Recognizing a trend versus being a proponent of the most horrible to approach it is an Idiocracy level leap in logic. The movie does not endorse eugenics in any way. At most, it displays a caricature of things, like genetics, as movies are apt to do.

"Look, there's no police misconduct! Any complaints are from woke radicals!"

A budding authoritarian regime needs to necessarily cozy up with those in positions of authority.

I think it's only a matter of time before they prohibit recording in public and disseminating those recordings in places like YouTube.

Also, President Camacho was supposed to be a caricature of how bad it could get, not an actually better choice.

Damn, that thing is running on a 5090, it's on fire!

I don't think JD Vance is going to care, he's already receiving more off the only compensation he cares about by sucking up to MAGA and Project 2025. I'm curious what creative excuse they will come up with, since they won't want to make JD Vance look bad when they ban it.

My personal opinion is that Putin would have thrown Musk out of a window already if he could have, and that Bannon is basically his proxy on this. Musk just wants smaller, easier to influence nations that his companies can more easily manipulate and be less subject to regulations as a result. Musk doesn't give a shit about Putin, he is more concerned about there being an economy under him he can't exploit as well.

So three weeks to either suck up to the US until Russia snipes them off while the US does so as well. Trump opening up with wanting to acquire Greenland and Canada wasn't him being mad, it wasn't him being resentful, it wasn't him being a strong man, it was always within the context of where Trump's US along with Russia are positioning themselves now. Forget the bombing of Hiroshima, if a nuclear bomb got dropped in Ukraine or Europe, Trump and his followers would blame Europe and do nothing to help it. The US has gone from being schizophrenic bipolar to just being psychotic. COVID was a herald of the world that awaits them, people will get to decide if they follow it as slaves or die with some dignity, knowing that their legacy might be buried under a sea of lies.

That's always the way these bullshit fake grass roots subreddits start out. "It's just a parody" was also the excuse for The_Donald, which they eventually had to ban from reddit, which just ended up meaning the userbase just made r/conservative that.

On a personal rant, I will always point to that before there were "bots" and sockpuppet accounts, there was and continues to be Eve Online multiboxing and alts, and if you ever wanted to study the way psychopaths behave that Eve Online is the MMO to follow. Where do people think that the psychopaths the were attracted to it because it allowed them to take the mask off and gained experience at being psychopaths from it, that used it gain proficiency, ended up doing in the real world? To further the context, in the gaming controversy Elon Musk had with asmongold, Musk basically tried to argue that hiring someone to play a game was as normal as asmongold hiring editors while still being considered a gamer, and this sort of argument would basically only pass mustard in one game - Eve Online. It is basically the Steam of psychopaths - not everyone playing it is, but psychopaths flock to it and are even born from it. And they love to create and stimulate fake grass root movements using alts and bots. r/conservative? Literally shares mods with r/eve.

This picture needs Musk holding another leash from the other side to be accurate.

"It really hasn't. Also, these are some reasons why it has." It is literally their whole spiel and what keeps them on the radar, even if the popularity of the platform isn't what it used to. Which makes sense, since they don't actively advertise or force their platform but they've also been subject to negative press such as their handling of the Devotion devs and "many gamers"in their efforts to prioritize the success of Cyberpunk 2077 over any potential fallout in the region.

You run on an ideological platform, you lose people on ideological grounds, like incorporating titles and forms of DRM into the storefront. Indies can default to whatever storefront they want, that's should be the norm. Mohjang did it to great success.

Being effectively forced to do it on Steam, that's basically a statement about their effective monopoly. Your accumulated Steam library is basically an ever increasing sunk cost fallacy, although to the credit of Valve they haven't acted like massive dickheads (yet). But that will change with time because the people who lead companies change over time whether they would have wanted it or not.
