The way the government counts in houses people is to count the number of people in shelters, transitional housing, and safe houses on a single night in January. Every other year the local authority also counts the number of unsheltered people by driving around and making tally essentially. So while the official count definitely underestimates the total unhoused population, it is still a good indicator if the number of unhoused people is growing and by roughly how much.

These include, but are not limited to, data from CDC PLACES (Population Level Analysis and Community Estimates), the Social Vulnerability Index (SVI), and the Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool (CEJST). This data is very important for a lot of research and long term planning. I was still able to access CDC PLACES data by using a direct link to the download page, so it is not yet entirely gone. It seams from this article that CDC employees think that the data will eventually return, after it has been altered to become 'politically correct', but I think it would be best to expect them to never return. Much of the data is also still available from 3rd party data conglomeration, although at an extremely high cost for personal use.

Up until the last season, the NCAA did not allow helmet communication, so they had to use signs that had symbols which indicated what play the coaches wanted the players to run. 'Decoding' these during the game is not illegal, but a u of m coach was caught sneaking around and recording signs and their associated plays which is very much not allowed. This allowed them to run the exact right play to counter whatever the other team was doing, which ultimately led to them being able to win an (undisputed) national championship for the first time post integration.
