Thank you. Hatred, while understandable here, is not the answer. It'll only push "defectors" to more extreme corners.

If you want more people to join progressive sides, you can't ostracize them further. Show them that hatred doesn't solve anything. Fighting hatred with hatred is pointless.

It's also a distraction. The rich class wants the people to be divided. Being like "no you can never join our side" will do exactly that.

Niet netjes dat de aanbesteding onderhands gedaan is natuurlijk, maar alsjeblieft: liever geen marktwerking op het spoor.

I enjoyed it, but not more than the original. From what I remember, which is not as much as I thought, it became a bit of a slog for me either midway through or towards the end, which didn't really have a pay off like the first eps of the original did.

Payment processors being puritans again huh?

No, it took time to get Proton to where it is now. If it was released together with the Steam Deck, it just wouldn't have had as much game support. Proton already existing also made the SD that much more trustworthy. Proton's initial release was in 2018

Yes, otherwise the Steam Deck would probably not have as much game support as it did when it came out

Just a note before my comment: my reference is the Netherlands, which is struggling with too much cattle and too little land. I can imagine circumstances being different in Australia.

Methane is a worse greenhous gas than CO2 though (28 times more) and just growing more grass, which gets eaten pretty much immediately again, does not necessarily compensate for it. Tackling methane emissions is also a pretty effective short term improvement for global warming, due to it not being nearly as long in the atmosphere as CO2.

But methane is not the only problem with large amounts of cattle. The shit can actually become problematic in for the soil and water due to ammonia. This is a large problem in The Netherlands right now (and sadly we don't have politicians in power willing to make actual changes here). Biodiversity and water quality are going down significantly and a very big contributor is cattle farming.

And let's also not forget that the grass used is for optimizing growing cattle and producing milk (because the farmers get paid like shit). It's not a grass field full of flowers, herbs and other kinds of plants that are good for insect life. They're more or less green deserts.

Mooie en duidelijke uiteenzetting. Het zal helaas voor menig PVV stemmer niet veel uitmaken verwacht ik

[–] ReluctantZen 10 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, that actually surprised me the most here. The fact that all of it can leak at once seems like a good sign

Finished Gundam GQuuuux. Even though I read in many places that was no prior knowledge was needed, I felt lost a lot of times. I don't know the characters that were actually important in the end and I missed a looot of context. It felt more aimed at fans of the original. It assumed you know the world, the terms, power dynamics etc, but as someone that only watched Witch From Mercury, I did not know any of it.

The characters that were posed as the leads were heavily underdeveloped, including their relationships to each other. I think they had potential (a duo of rebellious rich girl together with a refugee is an interesting dynamic to explore), but were shafted in favour of what felt like nostalgia bait. As a result, some of their actions made no sense to me.

Animation was nice though.

I'm going to be checking out a pair of 2nd hand Focal Chora 806 tomorrow. There's a good chance I'll buy them, but I need an amp and DAC (preferably integrated) to go with them. Any budget friendly recommendations?

I have a pair of Audio Technica M40x and while I like the sound decently enough, I find the pads very uncomfortable. They hurt after a while and my ears get quite warm. So I'd like to replace the pads. I've seen Brainwavz and Dekoni recommended before, but the former is not available in the EU (for a reasonable price that I can find anyway) and the latter is quite pricy. Are there any other recommendations?

The spoiler tags used in Eternity >!!< don't seem to be compliant with how the majority of Lemmy apps handle spoilers. The web UI for example uses the following:

spoiler

It seems most apps follow this (Voyager for example).

This causes spoiler tags made with Eternity to be ineffective, since they don't show up as spoilers and vice versa. This can become quite annoying in communities discussing movies, tv, anime, books, manga etc

I've been ripping my anime bluray collection and wanted to have an easier way to sort it for Jellyfin, so I wanted to try Shoko Server, but it's not recognizing any of my anime. It sees the actual files, but categorizes them all as Unrecognized, making the entire idea of using it for automated sorting pointless. I'm struggling to find guides on this and the documentation is quite lacking. I don't know what I'm wrong. Are there certain rules I need to be following in order for Shoko to hash correctly? Does it hash the name? The actual ripped files?

My folder structure is setup in a way that Jellyfin properly recognizes it (without using the Shoko plugin yet), so like so for example:

- Fate/stay night: ubw (2014)
---- Season 01
---------- <episode> S01E01
- Fate/stay night: ubw (2015)
---- Season 01
---------- you get the idea

Since multi season anime often are separate entries, each season is usually its own main folder (which is one of the reasons I wanted to try Shoko to see if I could combine them into one so that I don´t have multiple entries for what is really only 1 anime series).

Anyone here that uses Shoko and have some tips?

EDIT: thanks for the information and tips everyone. Seems like Shoko might not be what I'm actually looking for.

This was displayed yesterday in the app when the new chapter was supposed to be uploaded. They even removed it from the library. I can't see it in my MangaPlus library and the Mihon extension says that it's removed. The Japanese version does still exist it seems and properly got the new chapter.

I read some speculation that this might be due to copyright reasons of the translated song lyrics. If that's the case, I don't understand why the Japanese version would still be up, since I assume they use the real lyrics.

Anyway, this is quite sad. I hope it gets resolved soon.
