Ex-navy electrician here. They use a microphone transducer to convert sound pressure from your voice into electric current. They convert it back to sound by a transducer at the receiver node. The Navy still uses it because it doesn't require any outside electricity which is prefect for emergencies.
Fun fact, one of the things we'd do to haze new recruits is to send them to the ICmen to ask for a sound powered telephone battery.

Last game I've completed was Kirby and the Forgotten Land. it was pretty cute and fun. :)
Ah that sucks. The first part is the roughest and it starts getting really good in the next expansion.
I'm still in the hell that is FFXIV. :P
Really enjoyed the last patch, the Trial fight was pretty good and I adored how they wrapped up the Normal raid series for this expansion.
My only issue with Lemmy is the lack of a "multi-reddit" where I separate the communities I've joined into themed feeds. Other than that, It's pretty cozy here.
