Because the suffering as a vassal state would be so much worse.

Which is why we need to make sure we produce it sustainably.

Conservatism has its roots in fear. The world is changing and people are scared.

This will not end well.

The all-knowing, all-powerful god who created the entire universe has decided to hold back rain in your state. But maybe if you beg him hard enough and skip lunch he'll change his mind.

This is what these half-wits actually believe.

Don't worry, they won't arrive in uniforms with sirens. They'll arrive silently in masks.

If they're going to withdraw then why are they strong arming all the other nations to spending 5% GDP on defense? If they're not in NATO, who gives a fuck what they want?

While accepting the Juno win for country album of the year in March, he said he was proud of being Canadian, but suggested it was on his fellow citizens to find common ground with the U.S.

We had found common ground with the U.S. We were good friends, trading partners, and allies. Then Trump and his sycophants tore it all up and demanded more. Fuck 'em.

They know the Democrats are on the same side as them. This isn't a party war. It's a class war.

Democrats are neoliberals. They believe in freedom of capital. They are for big corporations. They're better than the Republicans, but they are not on your side. They are not the solution to the problem we're in. They're part of it. They've shown you time and time again they don't care about you. This isn't a party dispute. It's a class dispute.

The solution is to take the few politicians who are actually with us, Bernie Sanders, AOC, etc and push the rest of them out. All the others are on the same side.

If you think things are bad now, then, brace yourself: it is about to get a whole lot worse. If you are alarmed at the speed with which the Trump administration has set about dismantling every institution of American government and every pillar of the international order, you must understand that this is not just the initial burst of activity, the “shock and awe” phase after which things will settle down: if anything, the pace will continue to accelerate.

The world has never before been faced with such a threat. The United States has handed the nuclear codes to a madman, a criminal, a would-be dictator and a moron, all in the same person. Whatever the purpose to which he directs these powers – to impress his dictator friends, to further enrich himself and his cronies, to seize absolute power or just to watch the world burn – we must hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.
