That song would work! Now to convince all the Taco Trucks to play the same song so we know when they're around the corner.

"It's Raining Tacos" would work.

The song is not public domain though.

Just to be clear I don't want to own and run a Taco Truck, I just heard the Ice Cream Truck and wished it was a Taco Truck.

Seems like missed opportunity to me, though.

[–] DJKJuicy@sh.itjust.works 16 points 22 hours ago

I stopped being excited for the Ice Cream Truck decades ago, but if I heard the Taco Truck coming around I'd be super excited and run outside with a big grin.

I can hear an Ice Cream truck coming from blocks away and it's instantly recognizable.

Why aren't there Taco Trucks cruising around the neighborhood with an instantly recognizable sound and menu? All the grownups would come running outside waving to the Taco Truck.

The Taco Truck was invented in 1974 so it's been 50 years now. I've known the sound of the Ice Cream Truck since I was like 3 years old, but I barely even know where the Taco Truck is. You've got to follow them around on social media...

I don't disagree. I grew up as poor as the characters in this comic and we were definitely not happy like they are. It's fiction and doesn't account for the harshness of reality and very callously ignores the lack of a social safety net.

However, the point of the comic still hits home. Life was much simpler when I was young and poor. The complexities and unnecessary stress of the life I lead now seem almost ridiculous in comparison.

I think the message can be interpreted though. It doesn't have to be taken so literally.

I am the exact same person today in my big adult house with my grown-up job as I was 25 years ago in my tiny little apartment living off $9 an hour. Houses, cars, jobs, promotions...these things don't really change who you actually are. A 25% raise at work won't make you 25% happier.

You can still have a job that pays money and benefits and choose to downsize the rest of your life and eliminate all that stress. You don't need a 3,000 sq. ft. house with a 3 car garage and a marble kitchen island to be happy... You're still going to be the same you.

Yup. I couldn't shake the feeling of sorrow after watching this movie. Like it just clung to me...

This movie absolutely destroyed me emotionally for like a week. I was wholly unprepared for what this movie was really about. I was expecting an alien invasion movie and got a brickload of emotions dumped on my heart.

The answer to your question is right in your question.

"Logic"

Cold, hard logic no longer applies. Reality is manufactured now. Pointing out a logical fallacy doesn't change anyone's mind if that logic doesn't coincide with their ideology.

Yes. It is too easy to lose your place by accidentally hitting back twice, then everything refreshes.

Yes, please add this type of navigation.

I asked for a "back confirmation" in a different comment for the same reason. It's too easy to accidentally lose your place.

Please add some well placed "back" confirmations. For example, when browsing All please ask for a confirmation when hitting back before returning to Home.

Seriously Netflix? WWE? (sh.itjust.works)
submitted 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) by DJKJuicy@sh.itjust.works to c/squaredcircle@lemmy.ml

I literally pay money for Netflix and Peacock. Like, actual money that I earn.

I cannot watch last night's WWE Raw on any service that I pay for. When I try to watch it on Netflix, there's a 1 second Raw promo then Netflix moves on to a Nate Bargatze trailer.

It's easier to watch WWE Raw by sailing the high seas than to watch it on any of the services I pay for.

login issues v1.0.96 (sh.itjust.works)
submitted 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) by DJKJuicy@sh.itjust.works to c/lemmyconnect@lemmy.ca

When I attempt to login to sh.itjust.works on Connect for Android v1.0.96, I get

error: sh.itjust.works - incorrect_login

I am able to login to sh.itjust.works from Firefox and Wefwef (Voyager?) using the same username/password.

I double and triple-checked before posting this because password problems are almost always user error...

Edit: This was indeed user error. I was using the keyboard suggestion for my username which was adding a trailing space which was passed as part pf my username when attempting to log in. Removing the trailing space allows me to log in.
