She’d glitch out of reality if the posts get more than 10upvotes

#NoWitnesses

[–] xantoxis@lemmy.world 22 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Unfortunately the witnesses ALSO want to make social demands of you when they see you doing nothing to save those people, so there's no winning here

Oof. This is a hard one.

"I'm sorry I thought the lever would kill you all." Done

[–] Poggervania@kbin.social 12 points 2 years ago

Can I stop the trolley Omniman-style?

[–] nao@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 years ago (3 children)

you can refuse to shake hands and do smalltalk and they would still be thankful

[–] PugJesus@kbin.social 27 points 2 years ago (1 children)

you can refuse

I'm sorry, my ingrained urge to be polite is greater than my urge to avoid human contact, which, in turn, is greater than my urge to live.

[–] Funkytom467@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

So pull the lever and throw yourself on the wheels before they stop?

[–] CJOtheReal@ani.social 5 points 2 years ago

Refusing would also be talking to someone...

[–] rtxn@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

You're not going far enough. Those tracks are embedded in the road surface, there is nothing physically holding them in place. Kick them in the ribs and tell them to get the fuck up and stop interrupting the tram service.

Question: would their souls haunt you for the rest of your days if you did not? :-P

[–] CJOtheReal@ani.social 8 points 2 years ago

Nah. Im not the one that tied them there.

[–] lugal@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yes, but there would be no handshakes involved

[–] OpenStars@discuss.online 3 points 2 years ago

That's all I needed to kn... hey wait, is this because I said "for the rest of your days"? How long will the haunting last, that is what we NEED to know, to make an informed decision!? :-P

[–] shiveyarbles@beehaw.org 4 points 2 years ago

Smalltalk!? Let nature take its course

[–] Sway_Chameleon@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Sorry, nothing I can do about the situation. I'm just going to go over here now.

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 years ago

There was a plane that crashed because the pilot sitting in the leading chair kept holding the plane in a stall as he was frozen in fear.

[–] CJOtheReal@ani.social -2 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I mean... It would increase the CO2 amount i was indirectly responsible for. There is no logical reason to rescue them all. Only "emotional" reasons.

[–] kakes@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Refusing to look at any effect except climate effects doesn't sound very "logical" to me.

[–] CJOtheReal@ani.social -3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Its also more resource efficient in general... Tell me the downsides of non interference in this situation.

Sorry, I don't have the qualifications to tell you "mass murder isn't a good thing," But you'll be happy to know that there are people trained in this sort of thing that you can talk to.

[–] CJOtheReal@ani.social -3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Its not mass murder. Its just ignoring an accident. Very different

[–] ahornsirup@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

There's no moral difference between refusing to save a life (at least when you can do so without putting your own life in danger) and actively killing someone.

[–] CJOtheReal@ani.social -1 points 2 years ago

No thats wrong. If you think so thats your opinion but in reality its a big difference.

[–] rivvvver@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

and how much co2 does the trolley use, exactly?

perhaps one of these ppl will shut down a coal factory in the future and offset all of their emissions massively.

also, why do u care so much for their co2 emissions if life has only "emotional" importance to u?
