He who drinks with the enemy while his ally bleeds is no hero but a fool. You grant him honor while he seeks to burn your and your ally’s home. No word of peace holds meaning while his sword is still raised against those who stand with you.

Install troops in Ukraine and show Putin already god damn it. That makes putin mad? Good that will make EU more unified. And its not like putin is gonna drop nuclear bombs cause thats suicide. So bring him to his knees.

One of the things that the Ukraine war showed perfectly is how useless the nuclear threat is in regards to non-nuclear wars.

Russia clearly said that if the west supplies long-range weapons to Ukraine and Ukraine will attack russian land with these weapons they will use nukes in defense.

The west did supply and Ukraine did attack and russia did nothing in regards to nukes, because they know once they touch that button there will be no russia left to speak of.

It's not a failure. Trump was always going to give his master Putin whatever Putin wanted.

American military on their knees rolling out the red carpet for Putin as his security team stands around is epic symbolism.
It will become a monument in Russia, its Iwo Jima.

I’ve seen this a lot. I don’t think it’s that significant. I would expect the host country, not the visiting official to literally roll out the red carpet.

My beef is with him rolling out the red carpet for a dictator, and on top of that demeaning his troops.

Yes, but the USA has not signed up to the ICC. In peace negotiations, it would not make sense to invite someone and then treat them badly.

Trump is not a good leader, but if doing so was a step to peace with useful negotiations, those troops could sleep well and proud knowing that their gesture helped save lives.

Instead, trump has legitimized Putin and in saying there should be territory ceded, he is rewarding the behaviour of invasion. Ukraine has been clear that peace with loss of territory is not an option for them. Putin needs a way out that saves face, but there are only limited ways to do that, with lots of distrust, which is why everyone else realizes that it's a complex issue. Everyone except Trump, or Vance, or hegseth etc. Some of them probably know, but they pretend not to.

What needs to happen is for Russia to collapse, Putin to be dispatched, and Russia split into half a dozen smaller states. But, as with the climate crisis, Trump has chosen the most destructive possible course. Though "chosen" might be a bit strong, since he is owned by Putin.

[–] hitmyspot@aussie.zone 1 points 11 hours ago

That’s more likely to happen with sanctions than peace talks. However, neither seems to be working.

The MAGAs forgot what they were angry about after Trump asked the courts for nothingburger testimony and immediately gave up when they said no.
