They want to keep the cast and crew of SNW, they just don't want to pay them all more as contractually obligated to do so after 5 seasons

They’re running into the same Star Wars trap. You have this amazing base lore and established universe and instead you focus on the same group of people over and over.
Ugh can we do new content please, why not the post-tng era timeframe? I wanna see new stories, faces, content.
It's not just that either. In a prequel, certain things have to happen, and certain things can't happen. The Enterprise is never in danger of being destroyed, and the TOS crew can't die or otherwise leave.
That is so easily handled in a Sci Fi show. Particularly Star Trek, which has a long history of alternate timelines.
It's not really a prequel then though, they're just using existing characters for their own story. At that point, write new characters too.
I completely agree they should do new characters.
As this is a green field of the unknown events of Kirk’s early career who is to say an alternate timeline that gets confidently wrapped up by dropping the crew back into the currently time is not what happened.
All it takes is come creative writings to wrap all that up.
It could be good, and if it's anything like Strange New Worlds it will be, but dropping them back to the main timeline still means that the bridge crew can't die. There was an episode early on in Strange New Worlds where I think it was Spock, Uhura, and another crew member were in danger. We immediately knew that Spock and Uhura couldn't die or be seriously injured, and it took a lot of the tension out of the episode, for me at least.
a million fucking times yes. and discovery doesn’t count.
Gross. People shoehorning in more TOS without loving TOS at all. Please stop and ho make your dead content elsewhere.
Stahp. Get help.
Give us an anthology series. Then everybody wins.
Oh look, it’s “fake Kirk” again. Let’s build a show around my least favorite SNW character and see how that goes.
