Overview:

The community dedicated to boycotting the US until they stop fascism, restore full democracy and start following international law.

Americans have a moral obligation to resist Donald Trump and project 2025 at every turn.

America is a flawed democracy currently being ruled by oligarchs. Stop the backslide! Dont let America become the next Hungary.

America needs to challenge the court rulings of citizens united v. fec and shelby county v. holder, protect the media, implement independent district drawing, and the single transferable vote so they don't end up having people stay home in life-changing elections because they cannot vote for their favourite candidate.

It’ll be over when every congressperson and senator who didn’t bother to stop Trump is out of their jobs and a new generation proves they want our friendship.

That is up to the voters but they have to basically dump their whole government if they want change.

How the Americans choose to deal with it is up to them

If they overwhelmingly vote out every republican I would rethink things for sure.

Not me. The Democrats are not a whole lot better. I mean make no mistake they're better than the Republicans ... but not by as much as they should be.

Prior to Trump kicking out another black man from their house (Obama) but after he was first elected I was reading some of the literature on a second US revolution and most of it was saying signs where pointing to a new one happening soon.

I thought the same until the current attrocities came about... watching the people of the USA bravely sitting down eliminated any hope they would do anything but take it in the ass and complain online that someone else is not solving this for them

You watch the Epstein files will be released and shit will get real. Fox has a gag in their mouths right now and it will remain in there until the court battles are over, but once the files are released and all the other networks talk about it but Fox whimpers in the corner unable to speak you watch the real poop will start to go down.

I hope you are right, I really do... but I doubt it, if those files ever get released, MAGAtards will just say they are fake or make up some excuse

All this did is push us to what we should have always been doing, avoiding American products, which honestly are just the worst. Food in particular, the processed corn syrup shit we import from the US is crap, the local brands are always so much better

my wife does most of the consumable purchases for our home so she has had to do most of the "is this a USA product?" checks and she discovered 2 things:

1 - we were lucky, only 20% or so of our regular purchases needed to change

2 - every substitution to walk away from USA stuff has resulted in a better, more enjoyable and/or higher Yuka rated product

Fuck the USA

There are things I reach for, then I see it’s American so I put it back, then I realize “I shouldn’t be eating that crap anyways” like pop tarts. It’s made me eat healthier because it made me stop and think about all the stuff I buy that’s exclusively American and it’s usually something unhealthy i want but don’t need.

I'm sure the boycott will soften somewhat after Trump leaves (presuming he isn't made President for Life and heralding a new era in American governance) because people have short memories and will forget that almost all American officials at every level were either directly working for his platform or just sitting ineffectually at the side pretending to do anything but not really stopping it.

But it will only soften. It will not be over. Not for most Canadians alive today. The USA poisoned its brand but good and by the time Trump has stopped raging like a bull in a china shop, Canadians will have found new favourite brands and suppliers and such and American brands will be dead anyway.

Because once I find something I like, why would I go back just because the old brand says "but we've chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanged!"

just because the old brand says "but we've chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanged!"

It will take a long time for the American brand to be trusted again.

They'll have to demonstrate that they are willing to act in a trustworthy manner, and that they will continue to do so for more than a few years before reverting to fascist enshittification.

It was a irreversible wake up call.

We cancelled our Florida Disney trip and will be checking out Tokyo instead, soemthing I would have never considered.

I will have nothing to do with that fascist shithole which the states has become, ever again. Even if they get rid of the convicted felon/rapist at least 20-30% of the population agree with him. Also the project 2025 gang led by thiel. Sick minds.

pedophile too, don't forget Trump is a kiddy diddler and most of the USA is not upset enough about it to do more than post on social media

[–] Tenderizer@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 days ago

My habits are formed. It's no longer even driven by hatred of America's actions. Even being better alone won't bring me back.
