Even opening up a poll on X to see what his users think about the idea...

Presumably the other headline that read '50% of voters' were in favour of this party, should have read '50% of X users who voted in the poll (a potentially large proportion of which were bots owned and controlled ultimately by Elon Musk) were in favour of this party'

  1. US (and in fact all 'Western') media is as bent as anything in the former Soviet Union.

  2. America certainly is in the hypernormalisation phase. I'm not sure how far behind the UK (and other Western nations media) is because I really don't engage in the media here. But any Murdoch owned media (like Fox in the US) is at the very least poisonous to open and fair democracy, and egalitarian society.

He can fuck right off. I don't believe him and Trump are actually at odds and I think this is an attempt to create an opposition party that's even more under conservative control than the Democrats are.

The chances that a real Elon party signifigantly stealing votes from the Republicans to the point it causes an actual vote split is basically nil. The voter base is stupid, but not so stupid to hand a brand new party anything out of the gate.

Now, controlled opposition, is a foundation of the farce that is Russian democracy, and both DT and Elon are staunch admirers of Putin's system where its a mob masquerading as a government with total control

Yup. At best, this is an attempt at spoiling republican votes to piss off Donald in the midterms. At worst, it’s an attempt to consolidate power by ensuring all of the followers are united.

What kind of shitty click bait is this?

The richest man in the world officially announced on Saturday that he has officially formed a new political party to challenge Republicans and Democrats alike.

He fucking tweeted that it was created, literally nothing official.

[–] sbbq@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He didn't say it, he declared it.

And when the president tweets it's for some reason official and should be followed... We live in a really stupid age where the government and politics in the US is governed by social media.

Perfect timing. Just when everyone hates musk he wants votes.

Yea, that gonna be fun to cringewatch

I'm surprised he didn't try to meme it up and call it the Lemon Party.

America party?

really?

I'm disappointed on the uncreative name.

was hoping for something stupid.

At least give it a cool name like The (John) Galt Party or something so it has a better change of splitting the right. I guess the nazi party was already taken?

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago)

He isn't trying to split the right, he actually thinks he can win because he's a fucking narcissist. So they will siphon votes from Democrats by pretending to be pro-Gaza and all of the kids who refuse to read a fucking book will buy it and vote for them.

Hey you guyz, now there is another billionaire you can donate your money to and he will do nothing for you. Cool!

[–] huppakee 22 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I'm really happy about this, always thought 1 flavour of fascism wasn't enough for me /s

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

I love them having to pick between techbro douchey edgelord and failed game show host douchey edgelord.

Let's split that vote. Let them battle it out to get the deplorable vote and let normal Americans run this place again, FFS.

Split the ring wing vote. Let them fight it out. Hopefully this could mean getting them out of the White House.

[–] MITM0@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

What's it called again ? Please let it be an AnCap one, it would make sense for him to do just that

[–] BlameThePeacock@lemmy.ca 22 points 1 day ago (9 children)

While on one hand I hope that people realize this is literally their government being purchased by a single rich guy and push back... I know they're far too stupid for that.

Their logo needs to be a muskrat. Doesn't matter what they name it.

[–] RattlerSix@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

The Let That Sink In party?

[–] Sho@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago

....but the nazi party already existed.
