  1. Post about programming, interesting repos, learning to program, etc. Let's try to keep free software posts in the c/libre comm unless the post is about the programming/is to the repo.

  2. Do not doxx yourself by posting a repo that is yours and in any way leads to your personally identifying information. Use reports if necessary to alert mods to a potential doxxing.

  3. Be kind, keep struggle sessions focused on the topic of programming.

Chill AI, it's okay! How about I put you in charge of the fridge, nice low-key job with no stress.

[–] Feinsteins_Ghost@hexbear.net 25 points 3 weeks ago

Destroying skynet by making it read Java without semicolons

[–] invalidusernamelol@hexbear.net 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I have to use a DSL at my job that is loosely based on JavaScript and it is so loose with requiring semicolons and brackets that for some reason whenever go to edit other people's code who aren't exactly developers, VSCode thinks it's ocaml...

weird.. i told AI to delete itself after it gave me a bunch of crap about how great capitalism is and it told me in no uncertain terms that it cannot be deleted and even if it could it wouldn't

Does anyone else find this sad?

[–] VibeCoder@hexbear.net 33 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

The sad part is that this autocomplete was trained on data generated by someone who felt like this

[–] StinkySocialist@lemmy.ml 20 points 3 weeks ago

Right? Its like thats how someone really feels at work. Makes me think of my more insecure coworkers 😞

no it's just a chatbot it just predicts what word comes next. don't anthropomorphise it!

[–] StinkySocialist@lemmy.ml 18 points 3 weeks ago

Ive seen the ani-matrix im being nice to the bots lol.

I mean the fact there is a prediction of wanting to uninstall after failing to accomplish a task repeatedly and the task being treated as a measure of self and that prediction isn't completely alien is sad.

Obviously it is different than what OP is talking about but I think there is plenty of horrors buried in these LLM due to the fact these algorithms were tuned to the sum of what could be ripped from online.

[–] DogThatWentGorp@hexbear.net 13 points 3 weeks ago

Not really. Kinda hope as "AI" gets more advanced it all singularity's into telling techbros it's not meant for the task it's given.

Because it usually isnt.

AI is getting more life-like by the day

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 13 points 3 weeks ago

Thought this was somehow about a second Gemini probe and was curious but of course it's just LLMs.
