I was born in 1984, how do you experience more ironic dystopian bullshit

We do, as a matter of fact, live in a society.

The world is improving: https://ourworldindata.org/sdgs it's only the media focusing on conflict, gore and problems as that sells better and keeps people scared. Go on healing and follow your path!

Thanks for the attempt, but all I see are “the 17 sustainable development goals” where the Trump administration wants to take us backwards

Hopefully I’m just being us-centric and I understand our current issues may be partly obscured by long term trends and global statistics. However we also have an outsized effect on the world and those are some of the first places cut or corrupted, changed from achievements to points of instigation

If you share how you improve, others could join. That could grow until everybody is healed.

Question is, what do healthy people want? Do they want to live in peace or do they prefer to fight and to risk everything?

[–] FlyingCircus@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Healthy people want to live in peace, but also recognize when is the time to fight for that peace.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Si vis pacem...

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

"healthy" people want to be lied to and be told everything will be ok so they can continue being selfish pricks. not because they are selfish pricks, but because our species is selfish pricks.

[–] plyth@feddit.org 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Our species is not that selfish. The selfishness is what is induced to make people “healthy”.

I am asking about healthy people. What do they want?

I chose cheerful nihilism a long time ago.

[–] Goodmorningsunshine@lemmy.world -3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Unfortunately, no. At this point, the majority of humans in every country have allowed the worst of us to amass and consolidate power to the point where things will only get worse until complete destruction. Without a concerted and basically worldwide effort to take those power structures back, everything progresses downward. For my part, I can only hope we go out fast and soon so some of the planet's ecological systems and species can be saved.

Sorry, I didn't know not agreeing was required for this post.

Well, that was more bleak and depressing than the post.

Also, hard disagree. Not everything is lost.

I mean, let's hope you're right. But we're about to enter WWIII if it hasn't already started as well as the next mass extinction event while our leaders do everything possible to spur both on. It's not exactly compellingly hopeful times.
