That’s two Breaking Bad memes I’ve seen pop up in as many days, and I hadn’t seen any in years. Just started a rewatch the other week.
Look there are two kinds of people with breaking bad.
Those who loved it, and those who haven't watched much or any of it.
My ex got me into it, and she's kind of.... Well, shes not brilliant. So I didn't take her recommendations too seriously most of the time (I really don't enjoy Teen Mom or 90 day fiance or 600lb life). But this? This show hooked me. It takes quite a few liberties with the sciency bits and lawyer bits, but it's fun even with a bit of knowledge cause it starts with something being "technically correct." It's well written more than anything.
I finished up to season 4, wondering when it was supposed to get good. I know there's a lot of hype around it, but I guess it just wasn't for me.
You gave it a generous amount of your time. I'd say if you don't like it in the first few episodes it might not be for you. I was hooked almost immediately.
There's some shows that I've seen where the first season is boring, but the seasons after are much better.
My friends kept telling me to hang in there, it gets good, but at that point I gave it up.
I made it like 3 episides of season 1 before I threw in the towel lol
I got to the bathtub scene, said "wow that's amazing television" and stopped watching. I get it, he sucks and he's going to get worse.
I always thought I didn't like shows with main characters I wasn't supposed to empathize with, but found I loved The Sopranos and Barry. Not sure what it was with Breaking Bad that didn't stick.

And then there’s my wife, who hated Walter so much midway through she couldn’t watch it anymore.
That was my second watch so not a huge deal to me, but damn she could not stand him.
I've never managed to watch the whole series. There's great bits but I get super uncomfortable with Walters bumbling, flagrant dishonesty with his wife and family. I get the same thing with a few different shows and I just don't enjoy it. To the point where I find myself just switching the TV off mid way through a scene and going to do something else without even really thinking about it.
If I had to describe the sensation it would be "extreme toe-curling cringe".
I have the same problem with stuff. Can you, um.. anti-suggest?
Like suggest things I should avoid that hit those same tropes that made bb unwatchable for me..?
My personal anti-suggestion is always the office. Too much cringe. I'll watch compilations of Jim pranking Dwight on YouTube, but I can't watch the show as a whole because of Michael.
For sure, the cringe of the office is unbearable, and I have no idea who you named.. other than knowing they were in the show..? I tried so hard to try to like it that sucks so hard to have people all like “no but give it time!” …bitch.. I did give it time.. I even tried the UK version and it’s the exact same thing with different people.
Same with always sunny (sans UK version, I doubt that exists.. it wouldn’t translate..).. I can’t get past the first impression, the gang gets racist… like ok, this clearly has nothing for me..?

Its really not that hard to abbreviate Cyberpunk 2077.
Maybe he didn't mean Cyberpunk 2077, and just meant the genre in general? I mean, there are other cyberpunk games, plus tv shows, movies, anime, literature, etc.

Though... I find the assumption they are talking about Cyberpunk 2077 more realistic:
CyberPunk 2077 did have a very controversial, busted ass broken launch, took em like 2 or 3 years to fully fix it up.
Whereas like... a person with an anime avatar... is presumably familiar... with anime?

Is... cyberpunk as a genre generally... controversial? In... modern day?
I can see it as more controversial like, 20 to 30 years ago... back when Pokemon cards were literally demon magic, as was DnD.
But not present day?
I realize this is not infallible logic... but the idea of an anime fan who finds the genre of cyberpunk controversial.... this is basically ridiculous to me, whereas 77 much more recently was in much more controversy.
Or, perhaps I am just old.

Good thing is nowadays it's being referenced to as CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material), due to children are unable to give consent and some weirdos tried to whitewash it by calling the less outrageous stuff "child erotica" or "artistic nudes of children".🤮

Good god I hope that tweet's fake cause if not, that person obviously doesn't proofread stuff lol. also Breaking Bad is one of the best shows ever and you should give it a watch
If I like the Anime version of it enough, I'll actually try Bb. I honestly never gave it a fair shot because of how controversial it was.

Breaking Bad had too much family drama and slow pacing for my taste
Imo, it being slow and very much deep diving into characters is what makes it phenomenal instead of just a shallow action flick.
It's also a rather litmus test for maturity imo.
I first watched it during University years, and I was very much of the camp that was doing the vicariously living through the power fantasy of Walt's rise to power and the bitch wife and crying jessie ruining it for him.
I recently, like a year ago as a 31+ year old rewatched it again, and jesus christ what a top to bottom egoistic selfish asshole Walt is, all I did is feel sorry for Skyler and Jessie.
I first watched it during University years, and I was very much of the camp that was doing the vicariously living through the power fantasy of Walt’s rise to power and the bitch wife and crying jessie ruining it for him.
I recently, like a year ago as a 31+ year old rewatched it again, and jesus christ what a top to bottom egoistic selfish asshole Walt is, all I did is feel sorry for Skyler and Jessie.
I think knowing where it's going makes a big difference. Like, first time in going in blind Walt is a sympathetic for the first bit, and for most of the story is dealing with the unintended consequences of raising funds for his treatment. Knowing where it's going it's a lot easier to see him in a lot worse light earlier in the story.

Maybe that specific tweet was fake (or bait), but I do remember it from back then. There was a whole slew of easily misinterpreted posts on all social media around the release of the cyberpunk game and then again around the release of the anime.
