Seriously do not let your cat near yarn or string they will eat it and die I'm not joking do not do this

Even better be present and engaged during yarn ball time. Interacting with them during an activity they love is much better than outright prohibiting it because you are scared they will eat it and die while you are doom scrolling.

That's a good approach for most cats, but some are little trash gremlins that will steal things and run away. If you have one of those cats, yarn is never safe to play with as it might rip and they could run away to eat it before you have the opportunity to take it away.

Agreed. Individualized approaches are always best with pets. I just hate blanket internet comments that use fear for engagement. I have so many memories of my old cat, butt wigglin, pupils dilated, teeth sunk in, fully hugging and kicking a yarn hank with her back legs. She would meow like it was dinner time when that thing would come out. If I listened to catastrophizing internet comments she would never have experienced that fun.

They might not die but your wallet will, if you’re lucky.
