Women only trans inclusive This is an inclusive community for all things women. Whether you're here for make up tips, feminism or just friendly chit chat, we've got you covered.

Rules…

  1. Women only… trans women are women, and transphobic or gender critical talk isn’t allowed. Anyone under the trans umbrella (e.g. non-binary, bigender, agender) is free to decide whether a women's community is a good fit for them.
  2. Don’t be a dick. No personal attacks, no aggression, play nice.
  3. Don’t hate on groups, hatefilled talk about groups is not allowed. Ever.
  4. No governmental politics, so no talk of Trump actions etc. We recommend Feminism@beehaw.org for that, but here is an escape from it.
  5. New accounts or users with few comments may have their posts removed to prevent spam and bad-faith participation.

Our home is our castle, and it's where we spend most our time. You may have just a room, bedsit, or mansion... what styles have you done it in?

I’m all in (or as much as I can afford) on the arts and crafts aesthetic. We have some functional but cheap furniture that we are slowly (slooowly) replacing with quality wood furniture but oof it costs a ton. And we have a few pretty stained glass lamps and light fixtures.

Yes it's really expensive. It's 100% worth it but it's definitely an ongoing project! What's your favourite piece?

Ooh tough call. Probably my dining room table. It’s a trestle table and I think it’s Amish made.

Oooooh nice!

Almost all our furniture is mismatched hand-me-downs. Likewise the framed art prints on the walls, but we've started adding a bit of levity to the baroque and cubist pieces in the last few years.

Oh, and every horizontal surface is absolutely cluttered because we're a 4-person polycule and all of us are various degrees of ADHD XD

I really like that kind of decor! Plus we neurodiverse people really are the best

[–] knightly@pawb.social 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It is way easier for me to get along with the neurospicy types. =D

Me too! I find others in the strangest of places

[–] knightly@pawb.social 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Do we have a word like "gaydar" but for AuADHD? XD

[–] LadyButterfly@lazysoci.al 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

We should totally make one up!

[–] knightly@pawb.social 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I mean,, "audar" kinda fits but it feels weird to say aloud. 🤔

[–] LadyButterfly@lazysoci.al 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Neurodar! Sounds like a dinosaur though

[–] knightly@pawb.social 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Heck, that works well enough for me. =D

It's official! We'll put it in the WomensStuff official vocabulary haha

I call it "I'm tired and don't have a lot of money" chic.

[–] LadyButterfly@lazysoci.al 6 points 2 days ago

I've definitely had that style in the past. Totally necessary sometimes

What came here before and still works

Or can't be moved like the huge ass wooden boxed tv. That fucker is permanent. A focal piece I guess!

Minimalistic, clean lines. I don't like a lot of detailing or filigree on things because it just collects dust and makes it so much more work to keep things clean. No curtains and only a limited amount of tchotchkies for the same reason. Other than that, I like a lot of grey, blues, and greens, with the occasional pop of something bright. Soft, textured fabrics for duvet, throw pillows, and area rugs.

My home is really girly I love Cath Kidston and Laura Ashley. If a 5 year old child would like it so will I! I have cuddly toys on display with no shame. My favourite wallpaper in the house is this one with stags on it (one wall only):

Between this and the one you had put in a few weeks ago, your taste in wallpaper is on point!

Thanks Klem!

Bright colors, large puffy furniture, wood, but no clutter. I’m planning to add wall shelves.

How about you?
