Ask Lemmy
A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com.
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world or !askusa@discuss.online
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

Shower scene theme from psycho. The idea was it would be shocking enough to wake me up every time. After some years it doesn't work anymore but it's still annoying enough to force my brain to wake up and turn it off (eventually).
Hello Goodbye ringtone chime for 20+ yrs solid now. Target tried to make it theirs for a quick min but that was short lived.
I used to have Buddha Bar - Solitude as my alarm, but after a month or so I found myself associating it with waking up and it lost its calming effect on my morning. I've since resorted back to whatever my phone defaults to for minimum damage to sounds I like.
A cuckoo bird that gradually increases in volume.
This one during the week https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmpYEzKkV7s
This one if I need to be up for anything I'm doing at the weekend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyqVKMhn000
The discord ringtone special remix
Usually some song I like, currently: Yorushika - Sunny.
Ringtone is some random one on the phone that is not default. I used to have the default but changed it after confusing someone else's for mine.
My calendar notification yells "BINGLYBINGLYBINGLYBLEEP" and my ringtone is Reynolds and Farrell singing Grace Kelly. Text notification is the old HTC one. I've noticed I'm not the only one who still uses that one.
I wake up 10 minutes before I need to get up so I almost never set alarms
Birdsong.
A few times I've had to use my alarm when other people are sleeping and it usually wakes me up (because I'm used to it) without waking anyone else up too.
Avengers theme ring tone. Captain America theme alarm.
R2D2 happy noises
I use Runnin' Thru the 7th with My Woadies - $uicideboy$. The intro starts soft and takes about 30 seconds to fully build up.
The music that plays when Sonic the Hedgehog is drowning. I have never missed an alarm with that sound.
Effective, but I don't think I could start my day with such existential dread...
Phone is on silent 100%.
Default, baby!
I use Dark Anthem by Apparat because it makes me feel like I'm in another world which is a nice step down from dream land.
*but lately it's been the Pile Driver that starts doing it's thing a block away from me at 7am while they upgrade the street there.
