So, for some background, my aunt called me abnormally early and told me about her ~70 lbs., very young lab throwing around a kitten. I immediately raced over and picked up a limp black ball. Ran some warm water over it to find no puncture wounds. Then raced it to a local vet which did some X-rays and found a "possible" broken rib, but fairly severe pneumo thoracia (organs out of place).

As stated before, she was limp and black. Now I'm happy to say she is the opposite.

They’re so fragile but so resilient at that age! I hope she continues to improve and heals up well

I honestly thank the local vet.

She has had free access to food and the best tap water in the US. And only been eating since she woke up.

Best tap water - Portland?

Small Town Middle of nowhere believe it or not. Just got real lucky with the cabin I inherited.

Picking her up from the vet, she velcrowed herself on my shirt. And I didn't even notice the blood on my hand until trying to buy her kitten food at the local pet place.

No! She is vicious, and unwielding! Don't you dare try to cross her tiny gangsta!

Good on ya! And her! She’s got some moxie to get to you through a lab attack. All of mine just showed up and were like, “You. Feed me.”

Call the ambulance, my heart just melted.

Yeah, little shit brings the heater. I both adore and admonish her.

She will be delayed, but very much welcome, in Valhalla.

Your neighbor is your aunt?

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 22 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Fairly rural area, it would've been a ten+ minute walk.

Edit: checking back in! I just jogged/sprinted it and her place is is twenty + minutes away.

That's not bad.

Edit: You lied to us and have made a powerful enemy today...

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I beg for your forgiveness!

[–] Empricorn 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Denied. I will meet Furiosa on the field of battle, let her bap my hands, and kiss her fuzzy little forehead... FEAR ME!!!

[–] Empricorn 5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Aww, I love her! ♥️ Thank you for rescuing her!!! I want to let her chase and catch my hands. And happily walk away with them leaking...
