Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

In western Canada we call her April Vineyard.

[–] Naive@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

April Vineyard?? Why?? Is it reference to something??

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 2 points 18 hours ago

Just a bad english translation and an even worse pun.

[–] DoucheBagMcSwag@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Plus simple plan?

Ohhh fuck they aged a lot.

[–] PeterisBacon@lemm.ee 4 points 2 days ago

My kiddo sings 'Whats New Scooby-Doo' so much that it makes me realize I aged a lot too. Simple Plan is hitting multiple generations lmao!

It's not her, look up Avril Lavigne replacement theory

I don't actually believe it but it's a hilarious thought exercise

It’s just a body double the real Avril Lavigne retired to a small Italian village years ago.

[–] lugal@sopuli.xyz 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

And lives together with Elvis, we all know that

Tupac and Biggie run the B&B next door.

Tupac and Biggie falling in love and getting married is the best thing to come out of the rap game

After the amount of poetry they wrote back and forth I don’t think anyone’s surprised.

[–] logi@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I saw her in a place called San Martino.

[–] Kookie215@lemmy.world 24 points 3 days ago (2 children)

She's still doing tours too, last year she was in my area with Good Charlotte.

[–] greatwhitebuffalo41@slrpnk.net 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Wait they're still touring?? I don't think I've listened to them since high school. Wow I need to make a throwback playlist ASAP

[–] Kookie215@lemmy.world 25 points 3 days ago (6 children)

Oh yeah they are! If you wanna get really crazy, for the last 3-4 years there's been a music festival in Las Vegas called "When We Were Young" and its all the punk rock/pop from the early 00's I mean like all of them. Its a 2 day event with 2 stages.

Here is a flyer for this years show.

Don't open, old insideLet Go was released 23 years ago. 23 years before that, Toto (a band my grandpa likes) released their debut album. Going to this tour now is like going to a Toto/Dire Straits concert in 2002.

That's a lot of artists to fit inside of a 7 Eleven.

[–] jacksilver@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

That's why it takes two days

[–] astrsk@fedia.io 5 points 3 days ago

Goddamn, panic is doing Fever in full??

[–] _edge@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

i can see myself at the event, but not in Vegas.

[–] Kookie215@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I've been to Vegas twice and both times had a really great time. Its very fun downtown, and cheap.

Oh wow thanks for sharing that!

[–] Moonrise2473@feddit.it 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It seems awesome but I have the feeling that I would need to spend a whole year of savings to attend that...

[–] Kookie215@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

General tickets are around $450, which is very high but not insane for what concert prices are these days. Shit it was $120 for the CHEAPEST seats to see Post Malone in my area this month.

[–] Naive@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

it is nice to hear that otherwise many awesome singers from that time are either on break or left the industry altogether.

[–] pH3ra@lemmy.ml 14 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Were you thinking about Avril under the shower?

[–] bathing_in_bismuth@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] ryan213@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago

WTF I haven't heard anyone mention TaTu in decades! Going to have to look up that video....

[–] Naive@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

after shower

[–] BlackPenguins@lemmy.world 19 points 3 days ago

Not only her songs, but her attitude. She still sounds like that carefree valley girl from her 20s in interviews. But yeah she hasn't skipped a beat.

[–] FriendOfDeSoto@startrek.website 17 points 3 days ago

Why did she have to go and make things so ... complicated?

Thank you, I'll be here all week.
