Street complete! A fun app for completing details on POIs! Even has a multiplayer option for competing about completing :D
yes! I've been steadily adding the small businesses in my neighbourhood
I recently settled on https://organicmaps.app/ as my navigation app.
It's Open Source, uses OpenStreetMaps, works quite well on its own, and can (if downloaded through Google Play) even be used with Android Auto.
The only thing it misses, to my personal preference, is a live speedometer based off of GPS speed and local road speed limit indications.
Otherwise it fits the shift away from a proprietary software dominated market perfectly.
I'm pretty sure it shows me the speed limit when in driving mode.
Perhaps not all all regions have that metadata available on OpenStreetMaps?
Just checked at random spots in the netherlands and indeed a lot of roads are missing speed limit data. This again is a great reason to contribute where possible!
And I just noticed the speedometer actually works when using the phone screen, but it doesn't show (in my case) on the Android Auto screen.
Will keep contributing as much as possible!
I'd personally suggest checking out Tomtom Amigo in that case, that has a working speedometer on android auto (its by the dutch company Tomtom, free and uses OSM)
I've settled with tomtom amigo as its dutch (and I live there) as a great navigation app. Use mapy as a maps app.
Ye, also https://www.openstreetmap.org/edit isn't that difficult to learn. You only need to watch the tutoriel
I started after seeing this post. Thought about it before bud never looked into. Easy enough to update locations along my regular travel
Yep! Every bit helps :D thanks for contributing!
It's also a nice motivation to walk around.
You keep yourself fit and help others find information. Win Win!
I actually walked for almost 2 hours 1 day instead of my usual +-30 to 40 minutes just because I was getting quests done haha
Let's use and contribute to OpenStreetMap (no s at the end)
