This is Music Production. A place to share anything and everything you want about your music making journey! Learning is the goal, so discussion is encouraged!

RIP Waveform.

Rules are as follows:

  1. Don't share other people's music without commentary, analysis or questions. This is not a music discovery community.
  2. No elitism or bigotry towards other people's music tastes. Be polite in disagreement.

I will update rules as necessary, but I promise we'll stay light on them and only add new ones after discussion!

Here are some useful examples of what a great post would be about:

(in no particular order)

  1. Stuff you made/are making. Get valuable feedback and criticism!
  2. Learning resources - videos, articles, posts on any topic concerning a production process, be it composition, sound design, sampling, mixing, mastering, DAW workflow or any other.
  3. Free plugins, presets and samplepacks. Giveaways and self-made stuff included!
  4. News about production software, releases and personalities.
  5. Questions and general advice about music production.
  6. Essays on your favorite productions. Inspirations and insights!
  7. Your physical analog gear! Let us know how it performs!

Good to know: As a general word of caution, avoid posting complete compositions, mixes and tracks on the internet before backing them up on a remote and reputable server. Even small snippets or watermarked tracks should be posted AFTER backing it up to cloud. Timestamps from cloud services will help you in case of theft. And, as a public resource, lemmy is not a safe place to post your unpublished work, so please make sure your work is protected.

I've had various chats with ppl, usually nonartists, that believe all art is humans building on what humans b4 have made and nothing is truly original. Anyway, so i think nah and most of my own stuff is not from any human thing. But I am also aware of when it is, and that is what I show you today.

Like a trillion minutes in to Desert Dragon, I thought it a fitting place to do something inspired by 1:07 minutes in to dunderpatrullen's Face Against the Gardin which is an absolutely heavenly stream of notes that are less individual notes and more an undulating wave of pure harmony.

I then immediately do another inspired thing, this time from 3:54 of Ott's Jack's Cheese and Bread Snack which is like a giant string of nonsense and then suddenly a voice comes in saying "One." blah blah blah. While I used a synth instead of a voice, I was inspired by the tone and how it suddenly gives structure to the sands of everythingness.

so the part is 3:40 in Desert Dragon and it came out different than both inspirations (as inspired things should) and pretty cool imo

spoileri'm going to remix this song on my second round of releases because I started editing it more already cuz i thought the ending lame. My rules for remixing are ask me if u want to remix something and you probably can with 50%50% $ split :) you can release teh remix on your account or i can (tho i reserve the right to decline if I don't want it on my artist account). Also each round of releases I will have one slot open for remixing someone else's thing, with same rules in reverse. If interested, show me a constant tempo piece of yours you have in mind. Thank you.
