You must have missed that episode.
It's a quote from the Doctor explaining that time isn't linear
Oh, I'm aware. I was quoting Belinda from the most recent episode, which... you must have missed ๐
I have indeed :)
I tend to lag behind. Tbh, I'm two seasons behind currently lol
We'll always look ahead to the future if we get the chance to keep running. I've got ideas. "I think I'll do that near [Season] 4 or 5." And that's always the way I've worked on things. So yes, I could promise you amazing stuff at the end of Season 4. There are things we've already mentioned that are going to bear fruit a long time into the future. So that's just the fun of it. That's the fun of Doctor Who. But, to say again, it's the pit stops along the way.
Hm, there's always the tinge of "if we get the chance" these days...
To be clear though, by "pit stops" he doesn't mean the show going on hiatus ๐ He talks about them as the sidequests and interim adventures that happen during a season arc, on the way to the resolution:
there's an overarching story. You will find out whether Belinda gets home or not. You will find out why she can't get home. But along the way, all those pit stops are what Doctor Who is about.
Despite the mixed results last season, I am glad that RTD is putting at least a little more weight behind the arcs than his previous "recurring words in each episode" schtick.
