Sounds about their speed. I haven't been on Reddit for a couple weeks and I don't miss it one bit, just a fading memory. My sign-in instance is running Lemmy 0.18.1-rc.5 and it's really beautiful looking on desktop browser using the new compact theme. Then they fixed a whole bunch of stuff. The 0.18.1 official release is going to be brilliant, way better looking than Reddit.

Yep they like to "suggest" a ton of garbage at you that an algorithm thinks will piss you off and get you to engage more.
The app is even worse. It's only whatever the algorithm wants to feed you with no choice at all. You can manually go to a specific subreddit, but that's it.
Reddit autosubscribes new accounts to "popular" subreddits to help fill the front page. Go make a brand new account, you'll likely see the same thing.
They subscribed you too more than the default subs?
Is r/survival a default?
