None of these are an option. All of these eat up our cities.

Does anyone have experience with https://fairbnb.coop/ ?

Another great Danish alternative for vacation homes (with destinations all over) is Novasol. I've used them a couple of times, my experiences have been great.

I personally hate to stay in a normal hotel. I like to have a kitchen to cook my own meals with fresh produce. Now, in some countries, I do often eat out because they have delicious food, like Spain, France, Italy, Greeceโ€ฆ I also donโ€™t like in the hotels that it is loud! Either from people talking loud on the corridor, cleaning ladies or gentlemen shouting at each other at 7 am, or the damn air conditioning systems they have. You can also canโ€™t make the room completely dark, as I like it. We sometimes find an aparthotel, which is fine.

I do agree that AirBnb sucks because they make cities more expensive for the locals, but we generally do not go to the big cities, we rather stay in the countryside and make a day trip if we want to see a big city. I think a good option is how they do it in France with their small gรฎtes, where they rent a mini apartment in their courtyard. I stayed in several like these and it was lovely. And the owner did not bother us. They make it a bit private. I this is a good option that would not affect the housing market, since they would probably not rent it long term, having it so close to their home.

Hotels are a lousy option for me and my family with small kids. We need an option where we can cook, play and be a family. I grew up using Intervac, which is a homeexchange service, where families from Germany, Austria, France etc lived in our house, whilst we lived in theirs. Now we do the same, but also need places to stay when we are driving down to the house where we are going to live.

Renting out your apt or house whilst you are on vacation is not eating up the cities, but speculating in it like many are doing with AirBnB, should be regulated/illegal.

Not everything needs a European replacement. They can just leave! Nobody needs AirBNB. But HomeToGo also ruins our housing market. These โ€žcompaniesโ€œ need to be dismantled and their property seized. No matter where theyโ€™re headquartered. Other people could actually live there instead of foreign rich people to spend a weekend there.

Kind of the same btw with large and established organisations like Vonovia. Break then up. Take their buildings and start distributing fair housing.

Rich people out there housing poor and taking their money and somehow still neglecting the bare minimum

Homes should be used for... living in. Stay in a hotel, and maybe it will be affordable to buy a home again! Someday...

I think people should sabotage Airbnbs. Literally damage the property. Cut those key safes off and throw them away. Pour salt into the water system. Silicone down the drain.

I mean, they've got your credit card details so....

[โ€“] dumblederp@aussie.zone 1 points 9 hours ago

Only if you've rented the place, half of the time it sits empty.

How anyone even feels safe in an AirBNB is beyond me. Itโ€™s just some random person renting their apartment out. There could be cameras and microphones everywhere and youโ€™d never be able to find them all. Also have you seen the videos of using UV-light in AirBNB bathrooms. Omg.

Also the owner probably still has the key and could enter in the middle of the nightโ€ฆ

At least hotels have a cleaning crew. Even if theyโ€™re not perfect, but at least they have one.

One land, one folk, one rental property.
