This is why they came out with the new $10/month for 10 gb plan. They know the White House isn't actually going to use it.

I'm currently on a cruise offering Starlink internet. It blows so hard...

[–] KanadrAllegria@lemmy.ca 34 points 1 day ago

On Monday, prominent Democrats including the Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren demanded an investigation of possible criminal corruption involving Starlink, citing “the Federal Aviation Administration’s decision to cancel a $2.4bn contract with Verizon to upgrade air traffic control communications, and to pay … Musk’s Starlink to help manage US airspace”.

The SpaceX and Tesla billionaire denies conflicts of interest. Trump has said if conflicts are found, they will be addressed.

That's like the fox promising to make sure the henhouse is safe.

I don't know how there could not be a conflict of interest.

How many government contracts are we going to give him to prop up his falling stocks? And Congress is completely useless because we have had bystanders leading the Dems that have led to Americans not wanting to waste votes on them? That even when they have leverage or the majority they don't push as hard as possible?

If the government shutting down allows the President to do literally anything (since that's what good ol' Chuck has used as an excuse) why haven't we seen this happen before? Why have Dems always held back instead of attacking constantly?

If Elon Musk was ALSO the President this would be a HUGE conflict of Interest! But Fox News told me this is OK so as a Free Thinking Republican I think this is FINE!

Or else… you know… bad place is waiting…

Elon Musk spying on Trump's Google search:

"Avoid wife hat tips"

"How to know if I'm daddy's good boy"

"Best marker?"

"Buy Greenland price"

"Greenland owner"

"Buy Denmark"

"Buy eggs"

"Buy eggs from Denmark"

"Other Congress house"

"What is love"

"Constitution"

"Constitution short summary"

"Constitution short summary for kids"

"Normal poop color"

"McDonald's poop color"

"Undo Constitution"

"Undo egg price"

"Smaller wife hat where to buy"

The communication between Google and your browser is encrypted and authenticated.

He would have to get that data from Google directly

Lol someone doesn't know about x.509

I would have thought the white house would have already had the best kind of fiber lines available in at least the country, if not the world. But then again, the longer I live the more I see that nothing is done intelligently or is even close to the best it could be.

[–] ToadOfHypnosis@lemm.ee 54 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

They do. My theory is this is a way to transfer out the data DOGE stole avoiding the security of the White House switch system.

[–] limer@lemmy.dbzer0.com 22 points 1 day ago

Or also, on top of that, allow new ways for spying on white house traffic later by Musk should he fall out of favor.

Even if the new stuff is switched off, that is a very valuable heads up for him to go into damage control, extra bribery and stuff even more wicked

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's just another way to give Elon public money.

[–] ToadOfHypnosis@lemm.ee 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Actually, he “donated” it and did so publicly. A contract for an area as small as the white house grounds would be too small for him to care.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago

Ahh, so just advertising then.

[–] treadful@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 day ago

They probably peer with many local networks just for redundancy. I don't know what the fuck this was.

Karoline Leavitt, Donald Trump’s White House press secretary, said the installation was done to “improve wifi connectivity on the complex”.

And they had some DOGE kid climbing on the roof next door for some reason.

I miss competency.

[–] MyOpinion@lemm.ee 22 points 1 day ago

Excellent now Elon can monitor every electronic communication in the congress, white house and Supreme Court. Well done.

[–] ExtremeDullard@lemmy.sdf.org 22 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I reckon the White House should contract The Boring Company to drill a tunnel between the Oval Office and the toilet in Mar-a-Lago.

And possibly install a Neuralink chip in cheeto's brain too.

I mean since the White House is now a Musk showroom, why not go all the way...

[–] jagged_circle 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Lol wut. Did someone cut their fiber or is this just incase someone cuts their fiber?

[–] Pilferjinx@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

What kind of information could he obtain if he had intentions of spying?

[–] jagged_circle 1 points 19 hours ago

Everything encrypted with TLS.

[–] jimbolauski@lemm.ee 2 points 23 hours ago

Encrypted data, all classified data that is transmitted over commercial networks must use approved encryption tools that conform to specific encryption standards.

[–] MunkysUnkEnz0@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Wonder what type of blackmail he has on trump already. It's gonna be one unsecured network.

[–] oakey66@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

I can't wait for it to be hacked.

The first thing that can be destroyed in a great ceremony once these losers are kicked out.

"In the year 2045 this satellite dish behind me, which is being dedicated today, will still be here supplying expensive, inefficient internet ... A generation from now, this satellite dish can either be a curiosity, a museum piece, an example of a road not taken or it can be just a small part of one of the grimmest and most authoritarian adventures ever undertaken by the American people" - Donald Trump

That looks like the Arizona desert. Definitely not DC.
