Likely that your version of Fennec is too old and didn't receive the updated security certificates.

I wish I could have gotten that without a version update. So old version are borked now?

Its a different issue, certs expired. Make sure you are on the absolute latest version, and if you are, wait for fennec to update again in the future.

Can you imagine a world without Firefox?

Edit: Actually, that would make a good tagline for a series of FF ads.

Or, alternatively, google could use it. Can you imagine a world without chrome?

To be fair I wouldn't want a Firefox monoculture either. I would like more usable open source browser engines not fewer. The problem with Chrome/Chromium is not that it exists but the way it is tangled up with monopolistic interests. Healthy competition and more user choice please.

Ha, I'll be all to happy to worry about a Firefox monoculture if it ever seems we're trending in that direction.

I guess? If the company behind chrome did not have a stranglehold on the web, the devopment trajectory would look nothing like what we've got now. It would be a wholly different browser with the same name. Obviously it would make no sense to say that shouldn't exist.

I'm on 136 and my extensions are fine. What version are you on?

[–] interdimensionalmeme@lemmy.ml -1 points 1 month ago

Ah yes, an update of fennec fixed this. I guess this means I'm on the new unpopular firefox licensing everything you type terms of use. Did they break that to force everyone to the new deal?

That's the Mozilla kill switch in action. User freedom, what's that?
