It's a WW2 song, thus, the song implies artillery barrages on Banderites and their allies!

[–] yogthos@lemmygrad.ml 38 points 2 years ago (1 children)

specifically a song referencing the MLRS Soviets developed during WW2 :) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katyusha_rocket_launcher

[–] ComradeEd@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Wikipedia says it's the other way around. That the MRLSs got their nickname from the song.

[–] yogthos@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 2 years ago

Ah, I remembered it wrong. :)

[–] Ram_The_Manparts@hexbear.net 32 points 2 years ago

Azov downvoter is apparently at work in this comment section.

[–] culpritus@hexbear.net 47 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Oh it's the theater that Azov blew up.

[–] Shrike502@lemmygrad.ml 15 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I thought it was bombed by Russian airspace forces?

[–] culpritus@hexbear.net 42 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

There were various reports that Azov had been holding hostages in the theater before the bombing. These reports also state that they had rigged the building with explosives. The first casuality of war is the truth. We may never know what exactly happened. Even the wiki page cites estimated deaths from 12 - 600, quite a range there.

Here's a report from Max Blumenthal that includes the accounts of civilians that fled via RF humanitarian corridors. They all point to Azov acting as you might expect.

I remember VIVIDLY reading this tweet on r/GenZedong, then three days later randomly overhearing on the radio about "Russia's latest crime", bombing a theatre in Mariupol, and I thought THOSE NAZI MOTHERFUCKERS

[–] culpritus@hexbear.net 24 points 2 years ago

It really is informative of how easily mainstream western media has willingly become a megaphone for neo-nazis.

It's not the first or last time, but once you comprehend a few glaring examples like this, you start to critically examine all the instances of propaganda that may have alluded your radar in the past.

Would they have preferred the Horst Wessel Lied?

This is funny, because it is true. But also sad, for exact same reason.

This is under the telegraph video on YT. The only value this person can provide humanity is by facing the wall.

What a lovely username too. Absolutely no racism there, nosireebob

[–] juchebot88@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 2 years ago

What exactly is Mr. russiansarefilthyapes going to sing? The "we are rapist criminals who lost the war" song?

Because in case he didn't notice, the Japanese and the Banderites lost. The Soviets won.

[–] jlyws123@lemmygrad.ml 33 points 2 years ago

Theoretically, everyone in China can sing Katyusha. This song is still in primary school textbooks.

Looking at the comments under that link.

"Triggered" a dismissive blame shift for deeply offensive words or deeds. Imagine singing Uber Alles at Auschwitz

Ironic.

stalin shouldn't have stopped at berlin

[–] SpaceDogs@lemmygrad.ml 17 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Katyusha is literally such a good song, one of my favourites. I wouldn’t be surprised if it shows up on my Spotify wrapped at the end of the year.

[–] ComradeEd@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It really is. At some point I memorized the entire song, too bad I don't speak Russian, so I'm probably absolutely butchering it every time I try to sing it.

[–] SpaceDogs@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 2 years ago

I don’t speak Russian either but I’d love to learn, that’s why I just hum to it and hope one day I can sing along.
