Fediverse vs Disinformation

Pointing out, debunking, and spreading awareness about state- and company-sponsored astroturfing on Lemmy and elsewhere. This includes social media manipulation, propaganda, and disinformation campaigns, among others.

Propaganda and disinformation are a big problem on the internet, and the Fediverse is no exception.

What's the difference between misinformation and disinformation? The inadvertent spread of false information is misinformation. Disinformation is the intentional spread of falsehoods.

By equipping yourself with knowledge of current disinformation campaigns by state actors, corporations and their cheerleaders, you will be better able to identify, report and (hopefully) remove content matching known disinformation campaigns.

  • President Joe Biden increased the federal workforce by about 5%, the highest increase in any single term since the 1980s.
  • But the number grew by about 130,000, not 900,000.
  • President Donald Trump oversaw a 2.6% increase in federal employment during his first term, but he cut staff at most federal agencies.

If your population increases your public servants workforce needs to increase as well in order to provide the same levels of services. I hate when media just mention the raw number or the % of increase, the % of the population working for the government is a much better number to use in this situation. 1% of the population and it stays stable over time as the population is growing? That means the number is increasing, but it doesn't matter, it's still the same proportion!
