I’d rather eat a real Ross price label than all that fondant

Fondant:
Art First, Taste Secondary©

My wife used to own a bakery and always said you’re not actually supposed to eat the fondant. It is “edible” but she recommended treating it like a decorative wrapping paper.

Hmm. Than why not just actual paper or similar? That's a lot of sugar to throw away.

Too be fair it's less fondant than a lot of aesthetics-first cakes purely because it isn't 100% coated in a base layer. But yeah, agreed.

at least the label would be edible

Good thing they didn’t go with a Walgreens or CVS theme or they’d need another 10 feet of fondant receipt

I like how the item 'sticker' says red/green and the cake is neither of those.

What's the difference between "Comparable Value $30.00" and the $12.99?

[–] CidVicious@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's their attempt at saying what MSRP would be for the item, at a non-discount store, but it's likely that the item itself isn't sold outside of discounters and there is no comparable item (since the item is made specifically for discounters, cheaply). So it's basically a made up number based on nothing.

I figure it's a retail term to suggest how much something might cost elsewhere or perhaps, the value something similar was sold for.

Confession time: I have a refillable water bottle in the style of a local generic's branding, and I kinda think it's hilarious and love it.

Peel off the fondant and it is likely good

barcode reads 400262979852001299 You can read 400262979852 on the corner of the lable? and it costs 12.99 meaning 001299 bit of the barcode is the price... how did they make this so accurate and edible?

Edible inkjet printer. They're basically the same price as a high end printer these days. You just send it a jpeg (of the price tag) and it'll print one out in a minute.
