!sillydrawingrequests@sopuli.xyz got more activity last week, which is really cool!

!buyeuropean@feddit.uk had someone post a question and immidiately got plenty of answers. Awesome to see that.

What I struggle a bit with is the consistent 2 downvotes and sometimes more on seemingly completely innocent posts? Because when a community is small this affects visibility in my understanding? The first votes are often the two downvotes.

I had a theory that some app "hides" posts on downvote and guessed that people are scrolling "all" and downvoting as they go through the posts.

You can use tesseract.dubvee.org/ to view downvotes. If someone downvotes all of your content without commenting, I would just ban them

Thanks Blaze, I remember that votes are not actually anonymous in threadiverse but was too lazy to figure out a way to check them. I'll check out tesseract and try to figure out whether these are random downvotes or is someone just being a dick.

I honestly don't care about downvotes but it does seem to affect visibility in some sorted feeds like "Hot" no?

It does, indeed. Not sure about the calculation, but it has an impact

How does this work?! I tried it but didn't see names. Is this a mod only feature?

[–] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If you look at a post of a community you mod, there's a small shield icon that allows you to see votes

[–] anon6789@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh boo, now I can't get vengeance. I got no mod powers.

[–] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh, I thought you had 😄

[–] anon6789@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Nah, I just want power with no responsibility.

!superbowl@lemmy.world was great yesterday. Lots of content from other posters. Everyone had a good time and nobody complaining about the very light US sport theme this year as opposed to last year. Love to see it.

Got another comment from someone that just checks in to Lemmy periodically and they said they were happy to see the community still doing so well and they're glad it's here to be a positive space during unpleasant times. I always like hearing what I do is having a positive impact.

That community is killing it! Always a bright spot ij my day!

[–] anon6789@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Always happy to hear it!

!lego@lemm.ee is quite a success, it's probably going to be my main focus for this week

[–] ekZepp@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

!scp@lemmy.world, !lovecraft_mythos@lemmy.world, !cosmichorror@lemm.ee are doing well.

https://lemmy.world/c/horrorlit, !godzilla@lemmy.world and !analog_horror_footage@lemmy.world are a little niche but not awful.

!creepypasta@lemmy.world is so so.

Anyone interested to become a moderator is more than welcome.

[–] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Feel free to promote them all on !communitypromo@lemmy.ca ! Maybe something like "Horror communities"?

[–] ekZepp@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Love the cosmic horror one — thanks for that!

Thanks for the encouragement!

On that topic, I'm going to stop posting the pokemon art to !pokemon@lemm.ee, and consolidate it with !imaginary@reddthat.com

[–] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 week ago (2 children)

!movies@lemm.ee and !showsandmovies@lemm.ee still good.

!movies@lemmy.world is now basically just one person posting.

I've requested !moviesandtv@lemm.ee to the lemm.ee admin, let's see how it goes.

[–] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Fragmentation kills the fediverse.

[–] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 week ago

I am well aware, that's why I'm trying to consolidate all the movies discussions on one community.

[–] anon6789@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Can you give a quick rundown of what all the various movie/tv communities are for? I'd like to post stuff there, but I feel so lost as there's movies, animation, the anime communities, movies and tv, individual show communities, etc. It feels overwhelming where the best place to post something is. Many times I've just watched something and say, hey I Just watched X, this is what I thought. Have you seen it too and what did you think?

Most of the posts on many of the communities look like industry news, and the names are all very similar I don't remember which ones I've looked at or not.

[–] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Of course! The main ones are

For the other ones

  • !movies@lemmy.world is kept alive by one person that really doesn't want to switch to the lemm.ee version
  • !moviesandtv@lemm.ee has a powertripping mod. I requested the community to the lemm.ee admin this week to lock it down (the mod hasn't been active for a few weeks now).

There are specific shows communities too, they are listed on the pinned post of !showsandmovies@lemm.ee

Edit: and then there is !animation@lemm.ee, for animation. But you can post those on !movies@lemm.ee as well, it's fine.

Thank you kindly!

Feel free to promote the community itself on !communitypromo@lemmy.ca !

[–] kionite231@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 week ago

Thanks, I will make a post there!

[–] AwesomeLowlander@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

To be nicely thematic, shouldn't there be one schizophrenia comm per instance?

[–] kionite231@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 week ago

I made the community on my home instance but feel free to make a new one on your instance too!
