Looks like it’s no fully FOSS. The UI is, but the syncing backend is proprietary.

Where are you reading that? The reademe in the repo says the sync tool is gplv3. Its a separate process (c++ vs react) but still open source. Admittedly that's as far as I read.

It looks really good. Right now it can't handle Outlook calendars, but I'll try it again once that's working
