i love calligraphy, especially with non-latin glyphs. all of the kufic scripts here especially are so stylistically sharp they look like scifi. the maghribi is my favorite of those i think though. something about it is just perfect to me. thanks for sharing. video is extremely cool.

Wow I’d love to buy his calligraphy book but it still costs $160 before postage.

I know it’s fair for the price but that’s still an expense one cannot easily afford if you’re not earning dollars lol.

It looks like the character 宁/寧 (peace) or 亭 (pavilion)

For everyone else: السلام means peace.

When I was learning Spanish, we would be taught how to say prayers, without yet knowing all the words of those prayers. In many cases it was 2 or more years before we learned some of those words.

Is the root of "subhan-allah" s-b-7, and is the form x-x-x-A-N accurate to what is going on, and what does it convey?

Yes the pattern is فُعلان.

So سُبحان is a cognate accusative, and usually the verb itself is omitted.

Something I've always wondered is are these legible in calligraphic form or is it more of an artistic endeavour where the legibility is less important?

Yeah calligraphy prioritizes aesthetics over legibility for sure.
