Welcome to /c/Gay - Your LGBTQ+ Haven

We're more than just a community; we're your haven for celebrating LGBTQ+ culture and connecting with like-minded individuals.

Community Rules:

~ 1. No bigotry. Hating someone off of their race, culture, creed, sexuality, or identity is not remotely acceptable. Mistakes can happen but do your best to respect others.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person. This includes speculating about someones sexuality, no matter how "obvious" it may be.

~ 4. Keep it LGBTQ+ related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love posts but 3-4 in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon' and fuck over our artist friends.

I once matched with a woman on a dating site, and she was a TERF.... who was also a trans-woman.

I was dumbfounded. I was like, how in the world can you parse someone who's that incongruous in their own thinking? She was straight up bigoted against herself.

I saved the whole conversation because it was absolutely wild and thought I would post it somewhere, but it seemed wrong... like, making fun of the mentally handicapped. πŸ˜•

Oh come on. Don’t tease us like that. I wanna see those mental gymnastics in action. Please share the conversation!

There might be hope for a Joe Sixpack who's never actually met someone from the groups he's been told to hate, but if a person is part of a marginalized group and supports those who suppress marginalized groups, they're rotten to the core.

Like, how? Did she not view herself as a real woman and use the men's room?

That's pretty much it for many conservative trans folk. They use it as a form of self flagellation, because they honestly believe that something is wrong with who they are, and that they deserve it.

They just happen to think that whatever way they experience their trans identity is the least bad way to be trans and that it's all of the other trans folk that are the real problem making it harder for them to live their self hating lives

Reminds me of the "the only justified abortion is my abortion" mentality that conservatives have.

This is my mother exactly. (MtF trans)

Mega-conservative. Pushes groomer narrative bullshit.

Could be worse, it could be Caitlyn Jenner.

Met 2 of them once. They call themselves "gender critical".

[–] Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 weeks ago

Which is a funny choice of name, since they’re probably the least critical people in existence. Oh wow, sex and gender work exactly how you learned in kindergarten and also the concept of sex and gender in the religious and political environment you grew up in just happened to perfectly reflect reality? Damn that’s crazy, very critical of you to notice that.
