I've burned out twice in my life. You'll know it when it happens. It isn't just being tired. It's stopping caring what happens if you just quit on everything because you simply don't care anymore.

The trick is to learn how to do less at your job without getting fired. Learn how to cut corners. Care less about your job without losing your job. If your job can't provide you with a reasonable work environment and is affecting your physical and mental health, then you shouldn't feel guilty cutting corners to maintain that health.

I’m so relieved that my former company went through downsizing before the market crashed. I have a friend who is recently unemployed and looking for work and another who wants to switch companies to escape and I thought of them through the entire article.

Not surprisingly I learned nothing from the article. They said that when people burn out they might apply for jobs elsewhere, so make your company look good. If anyone else caught anything significant, feel free to chime in.

Maybe mandatory return to office mandates is the solution to this... /s

Stop "leaning" out the workforce. Stop begging for overtime after you do.
