Calling it French Fries in the Belgium community is quite the risk you're taking.

And mayonaise of course. Nothing beats mayonaise.

I like living dangerously!

Mayonnaise, only with stoofvlees

Friends for life

Edit: Pili-Pili is also acceptable

[–] 8BitFriendly@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

Haha, I don't think I've ever tried samurai. Maybe I should give it a try.

You're Dutch. So follow-up question: Which one?

Zoete Hollandse bucht of Echte goeie Belgische met ei?

[–] ruud@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Zoete Hollandse bucht!

[–] 8BitFriendly@kbin.social 3 points 2 years ago

If I had to rank them:

  1. Mayonaise

  2. Tomato ketchup

  3. Béarnaise sauce

  4. Tartar sauce (which is actually based on mayonaise)

...

  1. Everything else

I know this is for Belgians but Malt Vinegar simply cannot be beat

[–] antik@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Can you tell me where you are from so I know where to never ever ever go?

Nah to each his own I guess but that doesn't seem like something I would try.

[–] DV8@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

I mean, look into the insane amount of sauces available. Even if you say it can't be beat you could try them all and discover things you can add to what you already like. Most Belgians don't just stick to one sauce.

The english way: Salt and vinegar.

[–] fievel@vlemmy.net 3 points 2 years ago

Andalouse of course

[–] zedutch@lemmie.be 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Mayonnaise is the only acceptable answer. Everyone else is lying to themselves

Sorry to that one guy who posted about using some kind of vinegar on his fries but lemmy.world had to roll back and we lost 30 minutes of comments/posts.

[–] Alenalda@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

This is the way

[–] NextWave@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

[–] R05@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Mayonaise, nothing else than home made mayonaise

[–] herrwoland@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I tried tartar sauce last time and it's now my new favorite

[–] Grishaix@feddit.de 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

"Pommes Schranke", mayonnaise and ketchup.

TIL :-)

Personally I would never mix sauces. IMO you have to make a choice ;-)

[–] antik@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That's a sad amount of sauce. I can still see fries :D

But you haven't tried "frit special" yet - Mayo/Ketchup/Onion?

[–] Grishaix@feddit.de 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The Onions: roasted or fresh?

[–] Mysteriarch@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 years ago

They should be fresh, although I've seen versions with roasted ones too.

[–] troplin@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

I love it.

Interestingly it tastes much better like this than a Single premixed sauce made from mayo and ketchup.

[–] szczur@kbin.social 2 points 2 years ago

Honey Dijon

[–] TempleSquare@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Utah Fry Sauce

50% Ketchup

50% Mayo

. . . I'll show myself out...

[–] spunky@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

HP Sauce <3

[–] KaJashey@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

"Hamburger sauce." Equal parts Mayo, ketchup, and mustard.

[–] KilroyIsHere@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

The most spicy available, usually samourai but my local friture has a lovely special spicy american sauce

[–] Mysteriarch@slrpnk.net 1 points 2 years ago

I have to admit I really like joppie sauce when I'm going for fries, but I regularly switch it up depending on what I'm looking for, so regular ketchup, samurai or andalouse all get their share.

[–] winged_fluffy@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

Friet speciaal. Ketchup, mayo and raw diced onion.

[–] supermurs@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

Ketchup and mayo

[–] aeternum@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

Tomato sauce or gtfo

[–] korny@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

The best sauce is no sauce, I eat them all natural

[–] PrunesMakeYouPoop@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Recently, I've discovered gravy and cheese curds, courtesy of our (USA) lovely northern neighbors. Seriously, poutine is fuckin' bangin'!

[–] antik@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

That looks greasy as hell. I would try it! I heard of Poutine before but I thought it was a combination of a russian dictator and a french prostitute

[–] caos@feddit.de 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

😋 Mustard!! 💛 🍟 💛

[–] antik@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Now that we upgraded to Lemmy 0.18.1 here at Lemmy World allow me: 🤢

That's for bratwurst and hotdogs.

[–] gigabyte@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Mayo for life!

[–] SpunkyIceke42@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Is it what you get when you milk a samurai?
