Here's that vague statement in full:

“We believe in giving proper credit for anyone involved in making or contributing to a game’s creation, and value the contributions that all staff make during the development process,”

It's less vague than it looks like - they're restricting credits to people actively involved in the development process of the specific game, with no regards to the others, even if without those others the game wouldn't exist. So the whole thing boils down to "we don't care about who made the original, suck it up" - a middle finger coated with feigned politeness.
