so that the whole comment session is not a semantic struggle on whether hate and critical support are contradictory, here's Muhammad Ali blasting America in 1967:

Why should they ask me to put on a uniform and go ten thousand miles from home and drop bombs and bullets on brown people in Vietnam while so-called Negro people in Louisville are treated like dogs and denied simple human rights?

No, I am not going ten thousand miles from home to help murder and burn another poor nation simply to continue the domination of white slave masters of the darker people the world over. This is the day when such evils must come to an end. I have been warned that to take such a stand would put my prestige in jeopardy and could cause me to lose millions of dollars which should accrue to me as the champion.

But I have said it once and I will say it again. The real enemy of my people is right here. I will not disgrace my religion, my people or myself by becoming a tool to enslave those who are fighting for their own justice, freedom and equality…

If I thought the war was going to bring freedom and equality to 22 million of my people they wouldn’t have to draft me, I’d join tomorrow. But I either have to obey the laws of the land or the laws of Allah. I have nothing to lose by standing up for my beliefs. So I’ll go to jail. We’ve been in jail for four hundred years.

—Muhammad Ali

If you’re from the Imperial Core and not doing anything to defeat imperialism from within, then it does feel strange to criticize right wing governments that came to power as a consequence of Western imperialist driven regime change and mass scale murder of leftists that neutered the formation of socialist movements in those countries.

Russia, Iran, Syria, Afghanistan, etc. Western leftists hate them because why don’t they just elect a left wing government like we have been able to?

Why should one not hate a right-wing capitalist state (Russia)?

Do you know what critical support is? I like when Iran bombs Israel but that doesn't mean I don't hate their capitalist right-wing state.

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 11 points 5 months ago (1 children)

If you know what critical support is, why did you make your original post in the first place?

Oh right, because jagoff

[–] regul@hexbear.net 9 points 5 months ago (1 children)

If you know what it is, why is there one capitalist country you don't hate?

Comrade they're not wrong in voicing critical support for Russia.

Why should one not hate a right-wing capitalist state (Russia)?

which part of that is critical support?

i think the jagoff emoji is justified but I don't support its use in excess.

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 9 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Russia is capitalist though and pretty reactionary

[–] ikilledtheradiostar@hexbear.net 7 points 5 months ago

neat, i don't disagree

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 7 points 5 months ago (2 children)

i think the jerk off emoji is justified but I don't support its use in excess.

Fair criticism. I did overuse it

[–] ikilledtheradiostar@hexbear.net 7 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I was actually going to say you had one more use before I started critical support.

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 8 points 5 months ago

sweat just under the wire

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 9 points 5 months ago (1 children)

My problem isn't critical support. I have critical support for the Russian Federation. I felt the original post was just jerking off honestly. Like its unnecessary unless its just bait, and then its worse.

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 8 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Okay because I was going to say don't tell me we're all of the sudden taking the lib line and saying Russia is communist now because that's totally false.

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 7 points 5 months ago

Yeah, understandable that'd be fucked up lol

You hate Russia because you're NAFO-CIA-vaushite, I hate Russia because I'm gay Russian leftist. We're not the same.

For real, though. Every proletarian should oppose their own bourgeoius country first and foremost. I'm Russian so I am anti-Russian; if I was American, then I'd be Anti-American, If i was European then I'd be anti-EU etc.
