Obligatory “but what about the bots” comment.
Here on lemmy.world there are not many because admins setup anti-bot measures during sign in from the start and never let them down (reason for why we're waiting for 0.18.1 and not upgrading to 0.18).
Bot invasions happen on instances with open registration (no protection).
Hopefully not many, because as far as I can see, the growth on lemmy.world seems organic and gradual.
I agree It’s been a steady stream of new people for a couple weeks
