His recent death exposed some people who really think he's some kind of based anti-civ anarchist revolutionary. He's far from being left, and his views align with ecofascism. It's so baffling to see people on the left celebrate him when he wrote this.

He killed 3 random people in 20 years, very anarchistic joining of terrorism, writing lenghty manifestos and doing mostly nothing.

I honestly don't know how anyone can take this man seriously. Even back in my disgusting teenage years I considered the man a joke when reading his manifesto, the only thing that I took with any seriousness back then was the eco-fascist shit. 💀

I'm glad to have grown out of that shit (thank you once again r/genzedong), but that disgusting past sure does give me useful insight and is all I need to know that anyone who seriously supports the unabomber is worthy of punching and condemnation.

Also, the place that I've seen talking the most about the unabomber was the technology board on 4chan.

personally, I think it's a rather funny ×offensive× meme to uphold bomberman.

_____ and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race

What a bitingly hilarious potential sentence. Timeless, too.

wrt genuine support from anarchists or others, I have only seen one case. The anarchist wrecker in town who had enough friendly connections to make their way into parties they did not belong in as someone with an avowed distaste in the party structure, vanguard and otherwise.

During a lengthy one-sided conversation wherein they accused the party I represented of being a sex cult and China of being imperialist... they told me that they wrote letters to Teddy boy and then began to engage in regular correspondence. I nodded politely and prayed I'd never have to deal with this person again. My prayers have been answered, but I still hear news of some 'leftist infighting' disaster they are involved with from time to time.

In my experience, this person seemed to crave attention and seemed waaaaay too online. If other anarchists do support him genuinely, I'd assume much the same.

He's kind of like Pol Pot in that regard. Terrible person who shouldn't be supported, but memeable as all hell.

It's because they didn't read his manifesto. They hear the summary of his beliefs and they think "this will make me look cool to my infantile disorder club" and start talking about him.

This doesn't baffle me at all. I've unfortunately spent some considerable time talking to anarchists.

[–] bestmiaou@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 years ago

there's not a whole lot separating most anti-civ anarchists from ecofascists besides better rhetorical slight of hand.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

A lot of "anarchists" are just lifestylists that think living off the grid and blowing shit up is praxis lol

[–] ksynwa@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 years ago

Something that I don't hear often about is that shouldn't he be extremely mentally scarred because of all the MK Ultra shit?

[–] deadbolt@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Well, first off, you've gotta realize that the people who idolize Kaczynski haven't actually read anything he wrote, and certainly haven't read any Marx.

Ted is a lifestyle brand.

They're anarchists, you expect them to do research?

If they COULD do such a thing, they wouldn't be anarchists.

[–] KrupskayaPraxis@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

I don't get it either. It's not even like he's the only anti-civ theorist there is, so I don't know why they flock to him. I do understand being interested in him, since he's quite the figure.

EDIT: I do understand he's an entrypoint for anticiv thought for some people, but even then people should grow out of supporting him.

i guess because he doesn’t like leftists post-left anarchists think he’s based
