FFIV did that; if you hesitated or scrolled around menus, enemies would keep hitting.
7 and 8 did ATB as well, but I think all of the timers are paused when you open any menu
IV was more brutal there. It was a pain in the ass to scroll around for a specific spell or item while Golbez was dabbing on you.
They already did that in multiple games, i like FF but non-turn based combat systems for jrpg sucks donkey ass hard.

How many more generations of Playstation until there are no games for the entire life cycle of the console? Is the asymptote zero or non-zero?
Playstation will launch with the first all AI developed game. Texures - AI, story - AI, music - AI, Code - AI; or it will come with an game development AI, where you give a prompt and it generates the game on the fly. And of course all of it will be shitty and fun for maybe 2 min.
