i need a photo gallery with the following requirements:

  • renders nicely on mobile
  • password protected sharing links
  • allows downloading entire zipped album

nextcloud does 2/3 of these already, but the UI totally sucks when rendered on mobile among many other issues. it used to be my go to sharing solution, but the photo app has become worse and worse with every upgrade. i even tried the memories app, but it's not that different from the default photo app.

i looked through all the links here: https://github.com/awesome-selfhosted/awesome-selfhosted#photo-and-video-galleries

but most of the projects are WAY too complicated and overkill for what i need. i don't need any photo management, face detection, AI etc..... i'm literally just dropping a folder of vacation pictures onto my server and generating a public sharing link. that's all.

any new ideas would be much appreciated

thanks

I use Lychee on docker with my clients.

Does exactly what you want.
