Do you have a list of tasks you do every in-game morning as a DM? For example:

  • roll for weather
  • keep track of that curse time bomb
  • roll for encounters for the day
  • check for public holidays
  • ....

I want to make my game more consistent and feel more alive. I'm wondering if there are things I should be tracking to achieve the feeling that the world is moving no matter what the players decide to do that day.

I usually don't have any strict roll at the start of the day. Only when in specific situations. For example I track weather only if the travel itself is the focus of the adventure.

For time, I have started using BitD clocks. They are just the right amount straightforward to just works.

For me, it really depends on what the party is up to. The big one would be advancing the in-game calendar; we play remotely using Foundry VTT, and I've got a calendar mod installed that I can use to keep track of time. Can even keep notes on it, which is super handy for knowing what happened when.
