'geeft premierschap op' klinkt alsof hij een gigantische opoffering doet. Volgens mij wel hij niet eens premier worden (althans niet in zo'n penibele coalitie).

Op deze manier kan hij als de boel uiteindelijk uiteen klapt namelijk betogen dat het niet aan zijn leiderschap ligt.
