I don't know that I necessarily agree with this assessment, maybe Impossible and Beyond are moving a little more out of the spotlight, but I only continue to see more plant based options and more clear labeling on menus.
Taco Bell, for example, piloted vegan crunch wraps just last week, but instead of partnering, they leveraged their own "proprietary plant-based protein". Beyond and Impossible bring with them name recognition, but they come at a pretty high pricetag. Big companies, in their relentless pursuit of profits, are likely going to move away from 3rd party formulations. This'll leave Beyond & Impossible for the home cooks and small mom & poop restaurants who don't have their own multi-million dollar R&D labs.
