It amazes me to no end that so many people have so little imagination of how much worse things could be for us.

It often seems like a lot of Americans who were always told their country is the best are waking up to the fact that it was mostly lies but still have that "USA best" thing buried down in their subconsciousness from all the propaganda so they start to think the exact opposite is true. That the USA is the best in being the worst, so to speak.

Also explains tankies. "We were told USSR were the bad guys, we were lied to, therefore USSR must have been a paradise."

How many of them do you think are waking up exactly?

That's super hard to tell since I only ever interact with ones that either visit europe or post in echo-chambers like lemmy.

Probably fewer than it seems from the outside percentage-wise, though that's bound to still be quite a few people. The US is a huge country.

Yeah. Probably not as many are suddenly “waking up” as you might think. I wish you were right though. But I’m just not seeing it.

I can see now I didn't express myself too clearly. I didn't mean that "a lot of americans are waking up", but that of those (perhaps few) waking up, a lot those are still bearing the effects of propaganda.
