Pseudo-anarchists and more often "people who you can technically describe as anarchists but who are extremely mis-educated and have terrible priorities" are wildly over-represented on the internet partly because many of those types only post and don't have things like actual political work to take up their posting time. There's also, as many of our anarchist comrades here have pointed out, a bias in representation because anarchists saying mundane, reasonable things aren't going to be making the rounds among people who want to look at screenshots of twitter users being idiots. If the site was so inclined, it could generate the same volume of garbage looking at patsocs alone. I think the only defensible reason for not doing this is that the patsocs usually aren't as funny (they are just disgusting), but I think it would still be good nonetheless because they represent more of a threat to socialism than a bunch of 19-year-olds with black flag emojis in their screen names.

I've encountered takes about as bad as this in irl anarchist spaces and I promise you many people here have similar stories that they just keep close to the chest out of fear of violating the anti-sectarian rule.

It's worse if we're talking foreign policy. One of the most active anarchists I knew (honestly put me to shame), did tons of organizing, also openly advocated for US "humanitarian intervention" in Iran. Not many of his comrades seem to strongly disagree with him.

An "anarchist" friend who introduced me to a lot of leftist ideas is now a committed Zionist smdh

Less so now, but I used to see a lot of people calling for a "no state solution" in Palestine.

Yeah I'm sure the rabid settler Israeli population will totally coexist with Palestinians in a free open commune.

8.2 billion state solution: everyone on Earth is their own country, and that country is Palestine.

I've encountered takes much worse than OOP from real life anarchists, though the main one I'm thinking of I think I can't talk about for opsec reasons. Let it suffice to say that it was literal Nazi apologia that was pretty extreme and basically motivated by wanting to own the commies (this person came off as being brainrotted by internet anarchists who tell campfire stories about how they were stabbed in the back in Spain).

I have seen that and maintain that typical anarchists are much better than the OOP, and I would expect that the comrades of the anarchist in your story were cowed by his record and reputation as such a prolific activist, which is still wrong of them but different from them not viewing such an invasion as being barbaric.
