In a way I'm glad that Trump happened. Only a severe event like the rise of authoritarianism in a previously libertarian land can make the majority of the public understand that just because they claim leadership, does not warrant undying loyalty.

If what they say threatens your way of life, you can oppose it. Fight it. If what they demand of you gets you drafted to kill or be killed with months of discomfort, you do not have to do it just because they say. If the leaders of the land you occupy decree something is illegal, according to their laws, and that law violates basic human rights and morals, you are a conscious individual with autonomy and you have the ability to choose.

This is very simple knowledge, however authoritarian states drill it out of the people.
