RULES:

I am looking for mods!

1. The "good" part of our community means we are pro-empathy and anti-harassment. However, we don't intend to make this a "safe space" where everyone has to be a saint. Sh*t happens, and life is messy. That's why we get things off our chests.

2. Bigotry is not allowed. That includes racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and religiophobia. (If you want to vent about religion, that's fine; but religion is not inherently evil.)

3. Frustrated, venting, or angry posts are still welcome.

4. Posts and comments that bait, threaten, or incite harassment are not allowed.

5. If anyone offers mental, medical, or professional advice here, please remember to take it with a grain of salt. Seek out real professionals if needed.

6. Please put NSFW behind NSFW tags.

Don't try to tell me what I go through isn't real.

Don't try to tell me I'm lying.

Don't try to tell me I'm "schizo" or whatever.

Don't tell me I don't really have a mental illness I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH.

You don't know me, how would you even know whether or not my experiences were real.

I'm currently in therapy with medical professionals, so I am indeed seeking help and working on myself, but to say I didn't go through it when you didn't know me is something else.

(I can't and probably won't say much as it's more of a general rant, plus you can DM for more info but only if you're not gonna be judgemental.)

Not every culture has this, though America is one of the worst

Here, mental illness is considered a personal failing, not a disease

Also a ton of media, tv and movies, has built up the idea that 'Most mentally ill people are doing it for attention', so the public's first reaction to neurodivergence is 'Stop making this all about you and get over yourself'.

It's cause a fucktonne of suicides

It's so messed up here in the U.S. where I live.

Me too, I feel your pain. Honestly if you even have a remote chance at it, get to somewhere saner

They're going to come after neurodivergents once they finish with the LGBTQ+ crowd, and at the rate they are building concentration camps, we will be there before the end of next year.

Shit's scary, stay safe

Thanks so much, you too. I plan to move to Europe in the near future, IDK how long. But yeah, I was outright told that if I actually saw a professional, they would tell me I didn't have my conditions and that I was self-diagnosing and that it might just take a while for me to listen. I was actually diagnosed with everything by a professional, though.

If you're going to come to Europe, avoid the UK, we're heading down the same path as the US and will be in a similar situation in 4 years time.

Try somewhere a bit more stable, I'd honestly suggest central Europe since France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Sweden, and Finland are also heading in roughly the same direction.

Who knows, maybe we'll all have to keep on moving as the whole of society collapses.

I'm helping my sister and her kids first, they are far more at risk. After that I'm looking into Ireland, they have subsidies for tech workers that interest me.

Don't let the fear of a misdiagnosis paralyze you, you always have the right to a second and even third and fourth opinions. When it comes to mental health, if you feel unwell you ARE unwell and deserve appropriate support and access to healthcare

Maybe they're not sure what exactly is going on but the fact you feel this way is INDISPUTABLE proof that SOMETHING is going on. Don't let them weasel away.

I went undiagnosed for most of my life and it was pure hell. I mean it's still hell now but at least I have a subsidized therapist to talk to about it with.
