That's over the next decade. Many of these scary numbers come from projecting out 10 years. This is Politics 101.

You can't just beat the shit out of your voters overnight. They need time to get used to the shittier new normal. The politicians need that time to spread blame around.

We're not going to see immediate disaster from this bill. In fact, a great many will get a slightly larger tax return. I'm talking $1,000-$2,000. And here's the pathetic bit, the bit our politicians understand quite well, people will base their vote solely on the amount of their tax return for that year.
