Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Image is of the damage caused by an Iranian Kheibar Shekan ballistic missile in Israel, causing dozens of injuries.

Now in our second week of the conflict, we have seen continuing damage to both Israel and Iran, as well as direct US intervention which nonetheless seems to have caused limited damage to Fordow and little damage to Iran's nuclear program. Regime change seems more elusive than ever, as even Iranians previously critical of the government now rally around it as they are attacked by two rabid imperialists at once. And Iran's government is tentatively considering a withdrawal, or at minimum a reconsideration, of their membership to the IAEA and the NPT. And, of course, the Strait of Hormuz is still a tool in their arsenal.

A day or so on from the strike on Fordow, we have so far seen basically no change in strategy from the Iranian military as they continue to strike Israel with small barrages of missiles. Military analysts argue furiously - is this a deliberate strategy of steady attrition on Israel, or indicative of immense material constraints on Iran? Are the hits by Israel on real targets, or are they decoys? Does Iran wish to develop a nuke, or are they still hesitating? Will Iran and Yemen strike at US warships and bases in response to the attack, or will they merely continue striking only Israel?

And perhaps most importantly - will this conflict end diplomatically due to a lack of appetite for an extended war (to wit: not a peace but a 20 year armistice) or with Israel forced into major concessions including an end to their genocide? Or even with a total military/societal collapse of either side?

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news.
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon. - Telegram is @IbnRiad.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis. - Telegram is @EyesOnSouth.
English-language Twitter account in the same group as the previous two. - Telegram here.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.
https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.
https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

I’m not a Kamala Stan but even I can see she got fucked over by Joe Biden. Running a campaign of 3-4 months and almost winning is not death threats worthy.

That isn’t her being fucked over. She was spared a primary, coronated as the official candidate and received 100% of the DNC war chest instead of only a splintered part of it. She got the easiest road to presidency laid out before her like a red carpet. She single handedly fucked it up by being a genocidal cop warmonger and awkward uncharismatic loser. She did nothing to attempt to distance herself from the wildly unpopular Brandon or the genocide.

Also, almost winning? It was a monumental historic defeat. She didn’t even win the popular vote like all the other Democrat losers

I feel like the framing that she was spared a primary misses the broader point. She was just an empty vessel who happened to be in the right place. The ultimate goal was to spare the party of a primary. Originally the plan was no primary in 2024 "because Biden is the incumbent," no (competitive) primary in 2028, because Harris has 100% name recognition already, then no primary in 2032 "because Harris is the incumbent."

Every time the Democrats have a contested primary, they have to deal with shit like free healthcare or rent freezes becoming popular mainstream ideas and they need to grind the activists down into pulp to trick everyone into believing there is not a mandate behind these ideas. There is nothing they hate more than the electorate being reminded that they deserve a fuck ton more than what the party is willing to offer, and they were very close to killing any possibility of that happening for at least another 8 years when Biden dropped out and Harris landed on the ballot uncontested. This, above all other reasons, is why they tried to run Biden when he was known for years to be unfit, then unanimously coalesced around Harris when they finally realized they couldn't keep fooling the public.

[–] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Sure. My point still stands that Harris was given the easiest presidency-on-a-silver-platter lay up that anybody has ever received. She was not "fucked over" and she's not some kind of victim of Brandon. She would be a nobody without Brandon.

[–] PorkrollPosadist@hexbear.net 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah I agree. She could have at least lied or pretended to give a shit lmao.

[–] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 7 points 2 days ago

Literally all she had to do is go back to pretending she was in the 2020 primary again and repeat watered-down version of Bernie's ideas that she had no intention of ever following through on. Just go back to pretending to be a "progressive", denounce Biden, denounce the atrocities in Gaza and she would have won

[–] john_brown@hexbear.net 24 points 3 days ago

She would have done better if she distanced herself from Biden at all, I don't buy that she had no agency in that choice

[–] sisatici@hexbear.net 18 points 3 days ago

It was literally worst election for democrats in decades. They have lost every battle ground state. I don't really think there is anything close to winning in this

[–] BynarsAreOk@hexbear.net 4 points 2 days ago

Its undeniable Biden affected negatively but if you remember she got almost immidiately a significant lead on the polls, at the height of that coconut or whatever hype wave, she even got some significant Zoomer-Tiktok support.

Shen the procceeded to waste all that momentum on many unforced errors. She has zero political instinct and no willingless to push back on any of the political advice from her campaign.

When the only reason she got a bump on the polls was the short lived social media hype, she turned to idk white female suburban mom vote getting Bush endorsement etc, so much dumbass moves she could have simply said "no actualy I don't think rehabing Bush is a smart idea to the Gen Z and millenials that need to enthusiasticaly vote for us".

Yeah no shit you try to bring enthusiasm by literaly getting endorsement from the guy who is the mainstream face responsible for destroying a whole generation.
